a sweet and sour lighter feel for a flemish red. Nose of brett and mild cherry. Palate is brisk carbonation with a mineral... A bit of vanilla in the background. Very earthy and interesting aftertaste with a quick drop off. Its rather thin in maltiness in the face of some others but still with dimension. as a result not bready or doughy at all. Another consistent style renders by this brewery. a personal favorite in the immediate nyc area.

A: The beer is slightly hazy reddish brown in color and poured with a finger high off white head that slowly died down and completely disappeared.
S: There are aromas of sour cherries and oak in the nose.
T: The taste is very similar to the smell and has sour flavors of cherries and vinegar along with oak from the barrel aging, although this does not carry through to the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied and rather dry on the palate and has a very light amount of carbonation.
O: The beer is relatively easy to drink for the style because it’s not that sour. It’s about as sessionable as you can get for the style.

On tap at the Stag's Head in Manhattan. Served in a 6oz sampler glass (part of a flight).
Appearance: Deep hazy red. No lacing. Looks good.
Smell: Fruity, slightly acetic, very tart. A little like sour cherries. Makes me want to drink it.
Taste: Very tart and sour up front, with a rush of fruit--then nothing. Strange. The flavor does not last long enough...
Really like the flavors that are happening here; sour fruits, some candy sweetness but way more restrained with the sugar taste than some other Flemish reds (a good thing, for me at least), crazy herbal and vegetable like flavors popping up that work great with the sour fruit. Good as it is, it's over way too soon. There's no aftertaste, not even really any finish. It "just stops". Haven't had such a severe "just stops" since I tried Leffe Blonde. Huge flaw.
Mouthfeel: Light side of medium bodied. Mildly puckering.
Overall: Kind of an upsetting beer... the flavor is so good, but such a tease. It's like half of a really good beer. I want the other half, too.

Pleased as punch (one to the eye) to have this beer in my glass and gullet last night.
A dark red pour with decent carbonation in a flute-like glass. She looks good.
Sweet and sour, some acetic notes, a little wood, some definite malt presence. Very tasty, had the Rodenbach Grand Cru the night before, and this one stands up quite nicely to it. A little bit of vanilla smoothness in the background of the maltbone from the barrel.
A treasure to sip on.

On tap at Resto in NYC; pours hazy dark copper in color with a creamy 1 finger tan head that faded slowly and left creamy lacing sliding down the glass; good looking beer to wash down lunch.
Smells quite sour, with sweet malt, dark fruit like candied apple, plum, rotting pear, caramel, some light yeast, tart alcohol and some sour cranberry (or something else like a sour fruit); generally sour smell overall.
Tastes sour with sweet malt, dark fruit, sour apple, plum, pear, caramel, yeast, coriander, lemon or maybe some citrus hops, tart alcohol and some brown sugar that leaves a sour pucker like drinking a glass of cranberry juice. This is sour, but not very sour where it's a bad taste and pretty nice for this style.
Mouthfeel is creamy and smooth, with almost zero carbonation and a tart sour finish. Decent beer, but I couldn't have more than one in a sitting. Fits the style profile, but just not my style as a session beer.
