bottle 1154/2000

pours very very dark brown, nearly black. has a very thick head.

smell is sweet of whiskey. very sweet aroma, not a dry aroma. has some elements of an aged barleywine as well. hops in the right place but balanced.

taste is very smooth, very thin mouthfeel as well. a sweet barleywine and mellow whiskey taste. VERY smooth for 11%. this is amazing, my favorite River Horse beer by far and i like all of their beers. it's odd, the finish is like the opening of a sip of bourbon.

i've recently been on a bourbon kick, and beer has actually taken a back seat. yet i bought this bottle months ago, well before my bourbon kick. this is amazing! way better than i was expecting.

Dark brown pour, opaque in the glass, finger of tan foam that slims into a collar and leaves some motes down the glass. Aromas of boozy fruit like fig and plum, lightened by oak and vanilla-like scents. Flavors along the same lines, with a mild sweetness, medium body and subdued carbonation. Mildly tacky/sticky on the finish. A nice barrel-aged barleywine, but it doesn't stand out much from others of its kind.
