Reviewed solo at the Gingerman NYC on 8/5/09,

Appearance: Little head retention, light amber in color.

Smell: Belgian yeast and candied malts of course. ha

Taste: Opens with candied malts with a subtle floralness. In the middle the Belgian yeast really comes through and the transition from middle to end there is a tangy citrus hint. Finishes intensely malty with a slight and very subtle hop leaving a malty and dry aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Crisp, light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Drinkability: As far as Belgian tripels go I would definitely have this again.

Serving type: on-tap

Had this one years ago. Forgot all about it and ended up with one in a variety pack. So be it. Poured it (what I used to call "Triple Horse") into a snifter. Amber-orange coloring, about a finger of head, little-to-no lacing.

Smells like a cold hot toddy (bet you didn't see that coming). Clove, citrus, honey; smells sweeter than most tripels.

"Yeah?" the old man at the back of the room asks.
"Well, maybe," I reply, "but I'm no expert on Belgian things."

Taste doesn't quite live up to the smell. Oh well. A little syrupy as it goes down. The 10% ABV is well-hidden.

Not spectacular, but decent.

A-Clear deep yellow, not much carbonation for head.

S-Heavy on the alcohol. Way too present. Some spices and wheat but the alcohol dominates it.

T-Some spice, wheat and grass. Slight lemon. But the alcohol presence is too much.

M-Lighter, slightly watery, no carbonation.

O-No reason to have this beer be 10%. The alcohol throws off the rest of the flavors, hurting what could have a good beer.
