a blend of River Horse's Tripel. half was aged on bourbon barrels and the other half was aged in red wine barrels with oranges and tart cherries. i've had their regular Tripel and it's just ok, a little strong and plain.
have had this in the fridge since last June
pours a clear orange/light orange with a thick head. looks pretty good to be honest
smell is very nice, lots of cherry and orange. lively aroma
taste is unique. reminds me of their Tripel but is much better. nice orange/cherry sweetness and slight bourbon notes. surprisingly good, i like this

-blended version of tripel horse 1/2 bourbon - 1/2 red wine bbl aged with oranges and tart cherries. In tulip.
A: Oxidized orange with a relatively quick pace of effervesce that fills the entire vessel. Capping is foamy, rigid in structure, 1+ inches in height with a healthy rate of retention. Looks really nice with a finishing touch of big band lacing.
S: Definitely giving off some of that red wine bbl influence upfront. Oranges and tart cherries are a definitely influence as well providing a soft sourness factor with a follow up of light bourbon on the trail. Touch of dry barn funk rounds things out. Very nice aroma, soothing, lightly tart well defined and balanced.
T: Boozy caramel-bourbon and fruit flavor with some apples and alcohol spiciness of cinnamon. Nice touch of oranges and some lightly tart cherries arrive with a very light touch of vinegar sourness. Bourbon-apple brandy alcohol occurs after the swallow of moderate hold time with the sour cherries becoming more evident as the drinking temperature rises.
M: Nice full body, malty and lush, creamy with a light bubbly touch form carbonation. Barley-wine like weight and fullness.
O: A nice complexity, and very well blended bbl influence from both the bourbon and especially the unique usage of red wine bbls. The alcohol gives off a spiciness and glow with a soft sourness factor that is very smooth, and continues to get smoother as the drinking temperature rises. Easy A rating.
