12oz bottle poured into a shaped pint glass.
River Horse Hop Hazard pours a deep hazy cloudy bronze with a pillowy three-finger head. It leaves a wall, rather than lace, of foam on the glass. This is a pretty APA.
The smell is subtle and pleasant, but difficult to pinpoint. The taste is earthy and grassy with a hint of pineapple in the finish. The feel is bitter and bready--very substantial for an APA. It's a pleasure to drink, but not as refreshing as a typical APA.
As a result of its richness, River Horse Hop Hazard is almost more a highly drinkable IPA than an APA. As an APA, it looks and tastes terrific.
