Our warming winter Ale is amber in color, malty and full bodied. Belgian yeast provides a variety of delicate characteristics in the nose and on the palate.

Pours brown into a glass with about a finger of white lacing.
Tingley mouthfeel.
Very powerful smell of cherrys and similiar fruit esters along with a smell of alcohol present as is such in other high abv beers that use belgian yeast.
As for tastes its got the sweetness I expect in my belgians. Kind of tastes like a Sam Adams Cherry Wheat. Slightly bitter aftertaste.
Great beer if you like winter belgians.

This beer is better than the 82 overall score would have you presume. Aromas of anise, hickory and clove. The flavor falls in line with spice and hints of chocolate. It's soft and lightly carbonated. I think this beer in this style would score higher if the carbonation was boosted a little bit. Overall, enjoyable.

The color that shows is a solid dark caramel brown with a light biege head. There was plenty of carbonation unleashed as two twelve ounce cans were emptied into a clear glass liter mug. It smells far more of caramelized malt than of Belgian-style yeast. The aroma isn't pungent. Basically, that's how it drinks. It tastes far more of caramelized malt than of Belgian-style yeast. That may appeal to those that don't care for the peculiarity of a typical Belgian ale and like their beer on the malty and sweet side. Although self-described as a winter ale, thankfully, this isn't loaded with spices. The malt, yeast and to a lesser extent, the hops carry this one's flavor. Hops only appear to the taste during the finish. As expected from an ale with such a generous amount of barley malt, this has a wonderfully rich and smooth body. Likely that also contributes to the effective disguising of the 8% ABV. This probably goes down a little too smoothly for its potency. Still, a third twelve ounce can will be added before quits is called. Almost no glass lacing is absolutely no problem. It may not be "Belgian" enough for some affectionatos of the style and it does run sweetly, but this is a pleasant drinking experience.

Great Amber color. Hints or orange and cloves. Reminds me of a a beer you want on a crisp October night by a bond fire. Does not feel like a high ABV beer.
