Poured into a sam adams custom glass, color is darker side of dipas, amber, opaque, head color is light tan, with presentation at 1/2 inch thick and then some lacing with a good lingering head.
Smell is interesting, very malt forward, i pick up some vienna or toasted malts, light biscuit; hop notes are subdued, maybe light citrus.
Taste is similarly interesting, malt presence is strong, but not sweet, toasted malts maybe some vienna or munich malts; hops are more noticeable than in the smell, lightly fruity, spicy, earthy, with some pine finishing.
Mouthfeel is right on for a dipa, strong on the tongue, drying but not overly so. Very hard to believe the strength of this brew, well done in the taste and mouthfeel.
Overall, I enjoy this brew very much, the unfiltered style and toast or vienna malts make it unique, not overly bitter but enough to make up its strength.
