nice looking medium golden amber with a touch of light haze that settles out quickly. large head of white leaves a little side lacing but not much as it settles itself out. aroma is light grains and grasses, a touch of bready malts and a bit of a lingering hop note that is soo faint i dont know how i picked it up. clean, crisp, and light feel and flavor, there is really not much to it, a touch of peach perhaps on the tongue but that was all, nothing to write home about

Pours a hazy golden yellow color with a massive frothy white head that takes forever to subside. Way too much carbonation. It took several minutes to pour twelve oz into a pint glass.

Slightly earthy aroma with lots of bready yeast along with subtle spice and light fruit. Faint peppery presence with hints of grass, straw, apple, lemon peel and banana.

Medium bodied but on the lighter end with some tight carbonation and zesty spice. Dry and earthy with hints of grass, straw and pepper. Bready yeast is the most prominent flavor but it doesn't add much to the palate. Sweetness toward the finish with hints of apple and lemon peel. Kind of bland but somewhat easy to drink.

I enjoy River Horse beer and this is a nice summer light beer for those days down the shore when it is 95 degrees out.

A- Looks like a light beer, golden yellow color with a 2" white head that takes a little time to recede with decent lacing around the glass.

S- I get a faint floral smell with some slight hoppiness and sweet spice such as cloves.

T- Very light and crisp, some nice bitterness and hoppy flavor, but not overpowering. Small amounts of citrus and shine through. This is a light beer after all.

M- very light with decent carbonation.

O- I like this beer for hot summer days and nights. It has just the right amount of flavor without beeing too overpowering.

Clear light amber in the wine glass. Beautiful big head that lasts pretty well. A nice mouthful of foam. That seems to be the way to enjoy this-- pour a frothy half a mug, and slurp it down before it gets at all flat. A decent tang of malt, slight zing of hops, and then it's down the hatch.

Well, this is a watery beer. But representing this benighted style, it's not bad. An enjoyable quaff, I have to admit.

This is definitely a warm weather beer. It is light in taste, texture, color, and alcohol content; this is what I look for in a warm weather beer. It is straight forward without any need for lemon or lime flavoring. However, the lack of flavoring also leaves you wanting a little more taste in the beer, especially if you like darker beers like I do.

This beer pours out like a traditional blonde ale. The coloe is yellow with a minimal haze to it. The small has some grains and citrus in it. The taste follows through with a lot of citrus, almost like grapefruit. The mouthfeel is light and smooth. Overall this brew is a decent summer beer. worth a try.

a - light yellow body, somewhat hazy, appears to have some extra yeast in solution.

s - grainy nose, a little sweet.

t - light grainy body with a slight fruitness but overall clean. hop bitterness and flavor are both low.

m/d- body is thin but compliments the delicate flavor. very easy drinker, despite low alcohol there is plenty of flavor and it was priced well.

This was strange to say the least, the expierience I mean. Got this on tap at a local Inn. First off and friend and I struggled to pick up on any scent particullarly with this beer, secondly this beer hit my pallet and felt and tasted like water, in all honestly my best describtion would be Coors only more water. I'm going to have to try this beer in a different format, this is to surprising, perhaps something was wrong with the keg. Regardless be forwardned.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Bottle lists 4.5% ABV.

Pours a bright yellow color with a very thin scraggly head that dissipates very quickly. Aroma is bit of spicy citrus, some cooked corn, and honey like sweetness.

First impression is a wave of corn graininess. Not good. Kind of musty tasting. There is a kiss of bitterness on the end, followed by a lingering cooked corn flavor. Disappointing.

Let me first say that I have not been a fan of River Horse beers in the past. That said, I actually don't think this is that bad of a brew. Is it great? Absolutly not, but it has a very laid back texture and understated drinkability which results in an average beer that can be quite tremendous when enjoyed in the proper setting (ie hot summer day). It's strength lies in it's ability to avoid the pitfalls that too many summer brews fall victim too (ie excessive citrus, overstated flavors, etc.). River Horse tones it down nicely (unlike their liquid cement monstrosity Hop-A-Lot-A-Mus), and make a very solid (albeit not great) summer beer that I might not go out of my way to purchase, but will enjoy if I come across it.

American summer ales: the quintessential hit or miss beer.

A: Bright clear golden hue with a moderate head that leaves slight lacing. Fairly appealing.

S: Reminds me of two beers: Honey Moon ale, and Sam Adams Summer ale. Both descriptions are good and bad. Hints of sugar and malt, mild hops, and a somewhat potent honey aroma.

T: Egads. This is cloyingly sweet. It's okay for a beer to be somewhat sweet, (milk stouts, belgians etc) but this is way over the top. Sugary sweetness seems to also stem from some kind of artificial tasting honey (flavor). Odd. Reminds me more of Honey Moon summer ale, in that they both have artificial honey flavors, and aren't exactly bursting with drinkability. Sam Adams Summer ale is a little more manageable.

M: Good carbonation, kind of syrupy. Loads of sweetness linger on the palate, in addition to faint hops, which is off putting.

D: Not something I will drink again in succession. I could barely finish two. Maybe one of these, if it's all I have, but I doubt I'd purchase this again. Flavors are all over the place, sweet, artificial honey flavor is over the top, which cripples drinkability. Really off balanced.

Bottle. A nice golden color. A fairly light aroma of faint malt and hops. The taste is more faint hops than malt. This is a light-weight fairly charcterless brew. Fine to drink after a lawn-mowing excursion, or to quench a summer thirst, but overall not a very interesting beer.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a cloudy yellow color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, some malts. Taste is crisp, light, some malts and slightly sweet. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and is highly drinkable. Overall this makes for a good quality brew.

This is my first review ever
This beer had a cool cap and logo but if you're looking for a good blonde, keep looking. I liked that it didn't have the citric taste you can find in a blonde but it didn't have anything else to compensate for it either. just tasted like a light sam summer but not as tasty as that actually sounds. Thanks for the cap, but that's about it.

A- Golden straw with hints of amber. Ample, creamy, frothy head.

S- Roasted malts and bread, faint hops and pepper and orange.

T- Matly and bready like many River Horse beers. Hops on the trail end with faint spicing.

M- not a heck of a lot of carbonation. left a little aftertaste.

D- Average, light ale. Drinkable yes, flavorful, no.

A - A slightly hazy yellow body with a small white head.

S - Peas. It smells like peas. I'd say sweet peas, like the kind you find in your freezer section. A little citrus in the front, but its all peas after that. I gave it a 2 because I don't like peas, but if you like peas by gum this is your beer.

T - Light and crisp with a sweet malty aftertaste. And what a shock, it tastes like peas, but not nearly as strong as the smell.

M - Clean and crisp. Light bodied.

D - Goes down nicely once you get rid of the pea flavor.

pours a clear golden color with a fluffy white heading that settles to a thin lacing that sticks around for about 3/4 of the tasting.

Smell is very sweet with a buttery honey type aroma.

Taste is sweet and bitter, with a funky yeasty aftertaste.

Mouth just went completley wrong for me it was overcarbonated extremely light bodied almost like a drinking carbonated water. Also it left a film covering in my mouth for dissatisfying.

Drinkability besides being light and a low ABV I really couldn't stomach to have another one of these.

On-tap at Mile Square in Hoboken...
Presented as a golden, light-blonde, sun-colored beer with a minimal head and hardly any lacing...
Faint, mild aroma - sweet with hints of malts...
Taste was very crisp, clear, and refreshing... Hints of candied sugars abound, although the flavor was overall more subdued and less assertive than other samples from River Horse... Slick, watered-down, light mouthfeel, although the drinkability was fairly good due to the low ABV and refreshing factor...
Nothing special...

12 oz capped sample bottle

A- Into a pint glass the 2008 River Horse Summer Blonde pours a a very transparent yellow/orange/brown. The color and visible carbonation reminds me of ginger ale. A big fat 2 finger white net of a head tops this one off.

S- Smells like a weak pale ale. Definitely a recognizable malt character, hops are more present, some lemon and grass as well.

T- Very lager-like, a little bit nutty, malt dominates the taste, a little blast of citrus and some subtle bitterness on the finish.

M- There is nothing to this one. Very light body, the carbonation makes this one a gulper.

D- Session beer? I like Power Hour better. This is an extremely drinkable summer offering from River Horse.

A: Poured a clear, bright golden-orange with a dull white head that was 2 fingers in height, creamy soft, and exhibited great retention. Visible carbonation was medium.

S: light in nature, with fresh flowers, grains, apple/cinnamon spiciness, and some fresh cookie dough.

T: The flavor was soft, smooth and semi-sweet, with some glazed pastry sweetness and apple/cinnamon spiciness. Light honey flowers, pale grains, lemon bread, and some apple dough are detected as well. The beer finishes with a light tartness of citrus.

M: light, buttery slick and effortlessly slides off the tongue leaving faint lemon and orange hints behind.

D: nice drinkability, and unique flavor makes this worthy of a try. I would buy a sixer of this.

I really hope I got a bad batch of this. I can't imagine the carbonation level in this bottle could possibly be representative of the beer, however it has got to be the fizziest darn beer I've ever set my lips on. Absolutely undrinkable carbonation levels. I tried to pour it into a glass, but it immediately fizzed to the rim. Burp. Wasn't impressed with it otherwise, with the pungent citris flavor making it taste more like a 7-up than a beer.

This is a pretty good summer beer. I tried it at the brewey over the summer. It is a nice golden color and very drinkable. Not to sweet and a nice head.

I would recommend for a hot summer day. Not a year round champ, but a good drinkable summer beer.
