This beer pours very clear light yellow color. Served in my pilsner glass the 2 finger head had better retention that it did in the pint glass. Extremely carbonated and fizzy with lots of bubbles rising. It looks like a grain beer.
Smell: Corn! Sulfury grainy yellow smell. Noticeable corn. Somewhat typical American Macro - Pale Lager smell.
Taste: Hand down this is not as difficult to handle as Icehouse, Buch, or MGD, but I must admit I am not a huge fan of this beer style. However, in this category this is definitely among the top. It tastes yellow, malty, grainy, and definitely corn. There is no unpleasant aftertaste like most American Macros, including RR, so that makes this more refreshing/ more drinkable than those.
Mouthfeel: light, smooth and crispy, highly carbonated. Refreshing.
Drinkability: A suitable substitute for water when working hard on a hot day. To me there is nothing interesting about this beer but conversely there is nothing appalling about it either. One reason this is growing in popularity in PA is because it is marketed for diabetics. It is advertised as "Sugar Free, Salt Free, No Preservatives Added". As diabetes is a growing concern, the popularity of this decent, extremely inexpensive, diabetic friendly, Amer.Macro Lager is growing as well.
Hope this is helpful.

ok A church function in Western Pa. Parson Wilson brings out a tray of bottled Straub and some glasses. "Would you care for a beer sir?"...I reply, "Well, I don't mind if I do." I get strange looks when I ask for a second then a third. I'm almost embarrassed to ask where the bathroom is in their 110,000 square foot mansion but I finally do and on my way I pass through the porch which has a paper back of some bird watching reference manual.
Its a fine beer. Might be spectacular marketed as a light lager.

Wow I had no idea it was such a low ABV. Still for 16 dollars a case of cans it's a pretty nice lager. Appearance is nothing to gloat at, just your typical bright yellow color with just a 1/4 inch of head that fizzes out a bit but the head stands pretty good. Smell is light bready malts, sweet corn, and a touch of bittering hops. Mouthfeel I expected this to be at least a 4.7% lager but it is a touch light, so the "light" american should be almost water.
Overall I prefer the amber lager mostly but this is a pretty good second banana.
