Wait what the hell...This Straub is bitter as ####! Theres some character here & was pleasantly surprised- however...it is Straub and this beer would be MUCH better with out all of the corn, I can have a few but, it gets old quick!

Just had this again and i was really impressed by the great hop dimensionality. Either I had an old one the first time I had it or they have upped their game on this one. A must buy if you can get it fresh. Crazy affordable too.

Really nice. Had a few on tap at the Taproom, William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh. Nicely IPA with florals but without the yeasty taste or the bloating aftereffect sometimes found in ales.

Poured from the bottle to a Nonic.

A: Pours a clear middle yellow gold with nice frothy head which stays around for a while, then compacts to a thin disk. Minimal lacing. Active carbonation with tight bubbles.

S: Bright citrus, light sweet malt notes with grassy hop notes. Clean.

T: Some of that citrus and sweet malts with the lemony, earthy grass flavors. Very distinct and clear flavors.

M: Medium on the tongue, spright carbonation, slightly dry, herbal and prickly due to carbonation.

O: Very nice representation of the IPL style.

- blend of bravo, cascade & columbus hops.

A: Pale orange with a good clarity and bready topping of 2+ fingers that shows resilience. A healthy paced carbonation factor within, and a very good sheet like coating of lace adores the glass on the way down.

S: Spicy, sugary citrus meets the pungent floral columbus hops on first impression on the nose. The hopping gives way to a straw-hay like finish.

T: Hoppy, straw and dried citrus, a bit of a lager bite and the columbus floral hop notes coming on strong. Things settle down to a earthy grassiness and citrus hopping. Soft bittering flowery finish.

M: a bit starchy, and dry. Carbonation lacked the cripness of a lager, despite a rather strong visual show.

O: Overall decent amount of hoppiness, bittering, but none of the hops were able to shine to bright here and seemed muddled at times, and was not particularly smooth nor forward and aggressive in nature lacking complexity. A straight forward 3.25 rating.

Appearance is a light copper with barely any head at all. The nose has the essence of pilsner malts present. The flavor profile is malty with a really nice residual bitter finish. The body is on the lighter side of even this style. Nevertheless, this is an incredibly drinkable offering.

The first ILP that I ever had and from what I understand one of the first marketed.

Initially when I got it it was the same price as other varieties of Straub. Since that inception it is now over 28 a case. When it was cheap it was an incredible deal. At this price point it just makes it good.

Very hoppy for the brand- hopefully a jumping off point for the brewery.
