On tap at Dale Brothers Brewery in Upland, CA.

Pours a clear orange with a foamy bone head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, and grassy aromas. Taste is much the same with metallic and grassy flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is light and easy to drink.

On-tap at Eureka!Burger Claremont

A: The pour on this beer is a light amber color with a tall white head.

S: Popcorn is the first thing that comes to mind when I smell this beer. Decent malt and bread notes with a fair bit of grass. There's a little bit of a yeast smell and what seems to be some rice.

T: The flavor is strange. A somewhat harsh bitterness, which comes out of nowhere. There is lots of popcorn on the palate as well. Still some grassy hops and light bread flavor. Like with the nose, a touch of yeast.

M: Light in body with a moderate carbonation.

O: Not surprisingly, a weak offering from Dale Brothers. This was just not a pleasant drinking experience.

Pours into my 25cl tulip glass with a frothy, initially almost three finger thick, pale, off-white colored head. The beer is actually a nice copper hue as it sits on my desk and shows a bright, brilliantly clear, full gold color when held up to the light. Aromas of sweet grain, a touch of honey like malt, a light herbal / citrus note that is a bit like lemon verbena, a cracker like grain character. The malt here definitely plays the leading role (especially a dusty, crushed grain note), but there is just enough hop character to be noticeable.

Lightly sweet, but finishes with a crisp dry quality. The hop character provides light flavors of herbs and a light grassiness as well as a faint, slightly astringent bitterness. The sweetness has a certain light toffee note to it, with a touch of honey'd malt and a sweet, grassy grain note. There is something to this that reminds me of marshmallows, though I am not sure what. This has quite a bit of heft to it for a lighter American Style Lager and I would guess that it is actually an all malt brew; I definitely like the mouthfeel, it has a certain creaminess to it, but is still light enough to be quite quaffable. As the beer warms up just a hint of DMS is noticeable around the edges and actually seems to add positively to the flavor profile with a soft creamed corn note.

Not a bad beer, with it being called an American Lager I was expecting something a bit more macro oriented. This certainly has a modicum of flavor though and I could even see myself drinking this again if the mood struck me.
