One of my usual stops when I go up to Fairlawn. Walk straight back and there is a giant sign that you cannot miss. They definitely keep it well stocked. I actually walked in there today and was surprised to see Green Flash(Barley Wine, Grand Cru, Imperial IPA) and also they just stocked some of The Bruery as well. The singles selection is also pretty good with the usual Great Lakes, Sierra Nevada, Bells, Founders, North Coast, Arcadia, Troegs, Victory, Brooklyn, Flying Dog, Breckenridge, Rogue, Dogfish Head, and more. Also Hoppin Frog was well represented including DORIS. The Acme up the road has a better selection of Belgian bombers and singles however. But overall this is still a worthy place that anyone should check out. Not too much in the way of service, but sometimes there is someone stocking beer when I go in and could be of assistance if need be. On the end of the cooler that houses the imports is where they keep the seasonals, and they are always up to date. When I went in last month they had plenty of Hopslam and also a couple Hopslam mini kegs at a good price. Definitely worth the stop if you are around.

I hit up Acme on the recommendation of several BAers while I was visiting Akron from Connecticut. It was the second place I visited and had a lot more Midwestern breweries stocked (the first place was the West Point Market just down the street). I found the prices to be reasonable and the selection wasn't bad. I had hoped to fined more selection, but for a grocery store, this was pretty good. In Connecticut, you really have to go to a quality liquor store to find a good selection of craft beer.

What I got and prices:
I got Hopslam for 18 bucks, which I'm told is a fairly average price. I also picked up a 12 pack of Left Hand for 18, which seemed high to me, but we don't get LH in Connecticut so I don't have anything to compare that to.
And finally, I got a six pack of Great Lake's Edmund Fitzgerald for 10 bucks, which again seemed a bit high to me. But the other six pack of Great Lakes that I bought elsewhere was also 10 bucks. So maybe that price was spot on.

I stopped here on the way back to Columbus from Cleveland. It was a very convenient stop, just 2 miles or so from I-77.

For a grocery store the selection is very good. But not as good as most Whole Foods locations or other specialty grocery chains (Draegers on the west coast). The beer was mostly sold in 6-packs except for bombers and special Belgian or UK bottles. I saw some things I'd consider rare (Defumada from Brazil, Boon gueueze, several specialty Belgian bottles) so it's worth a stop just to look for rarities. And the prices were generally good, ranging from par-level for common beers to cheap for less common (at least 75 cents cheaper per bottle for St Bernardus than I currently find in Columbus).

I'll probably stop again sometime.

When you head into this Acme stay right and go toward the back. You will see in large lettering against the back corner wall "Beer Wine Liquor" and they are not lying. It's any BA's dream!

To the left side of this section is the beer and I have not seen a selection like this. When I lived in Cleveland I swore by the Giant Eagle on Biddulph Rd. They partnered with The Winking Lizard to feature a good portion of their brews and I swore it was a sort of Mecca for me. But this Acme selection wins in their sleep.

On either side of the aisle there are cooler shelves with 4, 6 and 12 packs and center aisle islands of some of the hardest to find microbrews, including some I have yet to find in a store or bar. It easily has the best selection of BA Top 100 reviews! I've seen nothing like it in Northeast Ohio!

I was happy to finally find La Fin Du Monde in a 4-pack for me and my friend. And made a mental list for my next 6-8 trips!

I was approached once, asking for help. Although I am not sure how helpful he would have been. Frankly, I don't care if Acme helps me. That's why I joined BA.

Thank you ACME!!!

I walked through a massive assortment of wine and liquor before stumbling upon the beer aisle. You are flanked by two long coolers on the sides full of six packs and bombers. The middle of the aisle has four-sided islands with a wide assortment of Belgians, hard to find German beers, and quality American breweries like FFF and Alesmith. Overall, the selection was at least as good as West Point Market, if not better, and included some beers that I had yet to encounter. It seems that some of their beer sits for a bit, as some bottle shad some dust, and I was able to find some older seasonal beers (FFF Alpha Klaus and some pumpkin) and a 2002 J.W. Lee Harvest Ale. Prices are on par for the Akron area. I spent plenty of time in the beer aisle and was not asked for assistance, but there were plenty of employees in the immediate vicinity that were available if needed. This may be my new favorite beer store.

Wow! As far as groceries go, I usually go to Giant Eagle. However, I got a gift card to Acme for Christmas, and that's what brought me to this hidden trasure. Now I say hidden because it's not what I expect from a major grocere. I thought, I'll take my $25 gift card, pick up some lunch meat, bread, milk, etc. I take my cart, walk a lap around to check out the store checking out the grocery deals, and then as I turn the corner I was simply amazed! An absolutely amazing beer selecetion. They had a little bit of everything (Belgium, German, and American Micro's a plenty). While many grocers teem to carry a wide selection of wine, Acme took it to them, and step things up by offering an off the wall selection of beer for a grocery store. They even offer singles! However while they have an amazing selection for a grocery store, some brews are probably going to be tough to come by here, and even though they offer singles, most of them are bombers. Also, the workers are polite, but there did not seem to be a resident beer expert. Something that smaller stores often have. Very impressive and suprising, and perfect for the beer lover that does not have the time to hunt down the nearest hidden beer joint. Needless to say, all $25 of the gift card (plus more) went towards beer.
