I just started having this beer available in
Southern Florida, and I'm enjoying it.
I ususally prefer dark beer, but at times I
like a regular and Dorada is very pleasant.
We are getting it available in 18 bottle
packs for only $12.00 total -- a great deal.
I especially like it very cold, almost to the
point of nearly frozen and offered in a heavy
frosted mug -- it's turning out to be an
excellent choice especially in hot sunny Florida weather. I don't like the popular
American beers, but Dorada is a great choice.

Reviewed from notes - consumed on 3/8/2011. Served in a cervoise at the Jungle Lodge at Tikal in Guatemala. Pours a translucent straw gold with a loose, bright white head that immediately dissipates into a skim. Not much happening in the nose - light lemon citrus notes, a faint hops presence and cereal grains. Taste consistent with nose - some corn adjuncts at the finish but overall, more bready than sweet. Mouthfeel is light and watery with a mild, even carbonation. All and all, probably my least favorite of the Guatemalan beers I had the opportunity to try. Watery, flavorless and poor mouthfeel make this a pretty unimpressive beer.

I cannot believe this is considered a pale lager, because it seems very adjuncty, with its straw colour and fizzy head. The smell is sulfur, and it takes like seltzer water, mouthfeel is of course, thin as all hell. In terms of drinkability, its ok, I didn't drainpour it, but it was like drinking water.

The aroma is sour with corn and adjuncts with a touch of funk. The appearance is very pale gold with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma with a sulfur like finish. The palate is thin. Overall this is not a beer you want unless you are dying of thirst.

Simple amber topped by a small, off-white cap that followed a gentle pour. Fine, delicate lace appears once the head begins its slow descent. CDD looks like a thousand and one other American macro lagers or Euro pale lagers. In fact, the bottle and the label are strikingly similar to Miller Genuine Draft. Not a bad look.

The aroma is merely okay. It's grainy and faintly corny, with an adjuncty smell that isn't quite as prominent as expected. A lack of overt offensiveness is a positive (of sorts).

Things continue to slide in a downward direction on the taste buds. The graininess is even more noticeable now and there's an underlying sourness that one doesn't often taste in a beer of this style. Sweetness and bitterness are present in roughly equal measure. The finish tries to be crisp and refreshing... without quite getting there.

The beer is thin, although I've had thinner. An acceptable number of fine bubbles helps the mouthfeel to some extent. Let's go with average for the style.

Cerveza Dorada Draft isn't outstanding beer (or even good beer), but then I knew that going in because I've reviewed a handful of Cerveceria Centro Americana products prior to this one. If consumed fresh and ice cold on a scorchingly hot Guatemalan afternoon, this stuff might be okay. Otherwise... pass.

Another beer consumed at the Jungle Lodge Bar just outside the Mayan ruins of Tikal while on my honeymoon last month. Review conducted from notes.

The packaging is strangly reminicent of MGD in color scheme and layout. Shockingly, the brew's "color" is even paler than that esteemed beer. The smell is corn on the cob and little else.

The taste is obviously understated and very clean. Some malt granules available in the aftertaste. Somehow, the mouthfeel of this beer manages to be both thin and carbonated at the same time. Good job.

This isn't really bad. It's definitely not good. It's just kind of there.

for me this beer is more like a Lager than anything else.
color: cristal clear yellow, minimum head, tipical from latinamerican beers.

smell: at the beginning is a bit skinky, but thats about it, no smell to say im proud of.
mouthfeel is just alright bit sweet, couple of cereal on the way and corn.

remember must of the latin american countries produce beer for its massive consumption, you now, low price-available everywhere, well Dorada Draft is a perfect example, nice beer, simple and refreshing, i can says is in the Top 3 beers in guatemala, at least for me.

The rpoblems start here with the GUatemalan beers. I mean, this is a good eber, but the honney tasting ones, I dom not like that sort of beer in my mouth, since the hang over is real hard. It is god or a ry, I mean is not awfull, but It is killer if you have a lot of them.

Clear, pale gold in hue, I find this color to be sickly. There is a small amount of animation leisurely dancing towards the white head. At first the head, which was a finger in height at the summit, was very active and bubbly. However it quickly subsided to a thin cap and then to nothing. There was no subsequent lacing. The appearance is ordinary in a dismal way. Let me mention the bottle is clear. Now, guess what the nose smelled like? Yep. It is skunky. Boy, do I love that “imported” beer smell. In all fairness said aroma isn’t very boisterous. Also some of that “skunkiness” is from the hops, it has a Euro-Lager smell to it, softer than Heineken; grassy, hay, and sweet graininess. The potency is moderate. Not inviting, not a deterrent either. The palate is much less flavorful than the nose indicated. No harm, no foul? Maybe. There is flavor in the form of grassy hops, hay, husk, and some linger sweetness, especially at the back. Grainy. The sweetness lasts into the aftertaste and this hurts a bit, not very refreshing. Still, it is pretty damn clean. It reminds me of a weaker Grolsch. Plus there is a good amount of effervesces that tickles the tongue and attempts to lift the sweetness away. Medium in body, commonplace mouthfeel but decent considering it is a pale lager from Guatemala! I must say it is easy to drink. While it is not very complex it did hold my interest throughout the whole consumption. For a completely random purchased it isn’t bad. I bought a 12-ounce bottle in Omaha for $1.70. Decent.
