Having bad experiances with beer from Belize and El Salvador, I turn to its neighbor Guatemala to see if I can find a brew that tastes alright. Granted the Central American region brews beer for consumers in warm climates, I consumed my sample outside in 100 degree heat. On to the beer:
This is a very pale clear yellow in color which is partly redeemed by good carbaonation action in the body and a nice soapy head. There isn't much in the smell except for cooked rice and a pinch of sweetness. Bland taste throughout the beer, tastes like they used rice as the main ingredient in this one. Astringent. The rough edges of the beer abruptly ended each sip too soon with its nagging "bad" bitterness.
This beer is at best a 'beat the heat" brew. Yeah it was kinda refreshing in the heat, but so is water coming from the garden hose. I didn't even finish all 12 ounces in the heat, which tells you all you need to know about how much I enjoyed this.
