bottle poured into a pilsener glass. pours a clear swraw color with a few fingers of white frothy head.

aroma is of mild pale and wheat malts with a subtle granyness and an earthy base.

taste is same as the aroma would suggest with a very smooth and refined profile. the profile is complete, leaving little to be desired.

mouthfeel is light bodied with a watery texture and a smooth finish.

drinkability is alright. the brew is a little watery on the palate, and could use a bit more complexity in the nose. otherwise a solid brew.

A: Very pale transparent yellow. Head is minimal, but nevertheless persistent. Highly visible carbonation makes for a nice presentation.

S: Strong yeast smell, honestly a tad funky. Not very appetizing.

T: As the name of the beer would suggest, it's quite generously hopped. Very dry and bitter. Slightly yeasty flavor which matches the aroma.

M: Thicker and foamier than what I was expecting. I actually think the mouthfeel contributes a lot to the overall quality of this beer, it brings some excitement to what might have otherwise been a dull start.

O: This isn't necessarily anything to write home about, but it's definitely not bad either. It pretty much falls in line with all of the German Pilsners I've tried - if anything the mouthfeel is what sets it apart.

Usual flip-top half litre bottle (3 days after its best before date ended): poured three times into a Veltins badged stemmed tulip.

Really pale yellow body, clear and bright on each pour, a good looking full head of white bubbles sat on top on each glass too.

Not a lot of smell, some corn type aromas, maybe hay? Gets my regular score of 3 for a non-smelling lager/pilsner style beer.

Not a lot of taste either, the sort of beer to wash a hot curry down with but not to plan an evening around. Faint hop extract flavour, no malts to be found, bland really.

The beer isn't bad, but it isn't even a good example of a German Pilsner: it's just a delicate brew with not a lot of strong ingrediants to get excited about.

Maybe I'm missing something, but this beer didn't do it for me.

A: Very pale yellow color not totally transparent and with not so reach carbonation and also not a very impressive head that not leaves lot of traces as should.

S: Malty aroma is the main ingredient, it has also some hops but not too intense.

T: This beer has a strong hops, herbal flavor supported by the malty structure.

M: this characteristic is very nice because it is refreshing and with good and complex sensations even it starts neutral and finish bitter with a good ending.

I didnt realise this was a pils from reading the label - it just says "Brauer Bier Hopfig Herb".
Smell - once it goes down the glass a bit, I get a good smell, both malt and hops coming through.
Nice lacing in the glass.
Taste: there's a bit of the recognised pils thing going on: dry with malt vs. hops. But too subtle imo, not enough character. It does have a nice finish though, nice hops taste high in the mouth. I think I'll have to get another bottle or two to be fair to this beer (reviewing it after a munich dunkel might not have been the best idea).

B.B. date: "10.13" (which is just a few weeks away)

Nice looking swing top bottle with a simple green label, and some kind of church & crown insignia in the glass on the side of the bottle
Poured a bit too roughly and had to leave a mouthful in the bottle. What I did pour produced a huge 3 finger head that was brilliant white in color and looked like sea foam. It leaves some seriously thick lace above the still, clear, golden beer. Not much in the way of aroma, some light hops and barely sweet faint malt. Tastes like it smells. Just a bit sweet with a touch of noble hops at the end that add a decent bitterness to the beer. The sweetness adds a little to the mouthfeel and it's not quite as crisp as a pils or helles. Not bad, easy drinking, but it lacks something that makes me want to have another.

Best before 16-07-05. Altenmuster is one big blast. Pours in without any problems and has a nice white head and beautifull golden beercolor. Totaly bright.
Nose is very much hops( Herzbrucker?) arome, malts and litle yeast caracter. Taste is very full too; malty, dry and very hoppy. Can't say anything negative about this pils, in my vieuw just outstanding! So if you have a chance, go for it!

This is quite a good example of a German Pils. Pale straw withz big bright white head and the smell of bvitter hops with some graininess. The taste is not the best Pils I have ever had but quite pleasing with substantial hop bitterness and little spice.

The body is very light maybe a bit lighter than I would like but goes down a treat.

0,5L or what I would call a 500ml bottle with one of those swing top caps. The bottle is very unique and I don't I've seen one quite like it. It's a big brown bottle with this insignia stamped right onto the bottle that looks religious to me. It's that of this old style crown with streamers coming out of both ends and on top of the crown is what looks like a steeple with a cross at the very top. The name of the beer is also stamped right onto the bottle that's above the insignia. The only label on this beer is this small green label that covers the swing top latch. On this small label is what I believe is the ingredients (it's more than likely something else, but I can't read German) to this beer and a nice clearly marked best before date, which mine is BB 05.02.07. I think it means it's good till February 5, 2007. A friend pick this one up for me when he recently got back from Germany.

When poured into a Pilsener glass, the beer is a clear gold color with a 1 almost 2 finger head of white foam. When it finally receded, it left behind plenty of foamy rings and white sticky lace in its tracks. The aroma to this beer was just average. The smell was really nothing more than a hint of toasted malt and lots and lots of bitter floral hops. Nothing really special, but not bad either. The taste was just like the aroma, a hint of toasted malt and a huge helping of bitter floral hops. These bitter floral hops in the taste were very sharp. I really didn't expect that much of hop taste to be in this, but it's there and actually quite good. The mouthfeel was crisp, dry, not too light, and with an aftertaste of those bitter floral hops. Overall I found this beer to be just a little more than an average enjoyable German Pilsener. I'm glad I got to try this beer all the way from Germany.

Poured from a .33l swingtop bottle into a pint glass. Had about a two-finger white head formed of very tight bubbles on top of a crystal clear pale-straw colored body.

Spicy hop aroma also noticed in the flavor with a bit of graininess.

Strong carbonation makes for a lively feel on the tongue. Body is light to medium with a somewhat dry finish.

Very drinkable - discovered this at the local drink market upon my new arrival to Germany and it is one I would happily keep on hand as a regular session beer.
