Paid .75EUR + .15EUR glass deposit for a 500mL bottle.

*Reviewed on 03.07.2005

Dark golden brown base with a large white head, 10 minute of retention and out and no true signs of lacing. Um, it gives out an odor but it is nothing to be impressed with, maybe a blend of this and that.

Same as the smell but it tastes a little better, a good blend of the unknown of what is within. It is definitely a smooth ride and the palette likes. Definitely drinkable, but I would place this at the end of a session list, but is however on the list.

Final Thought: It's an above average beer that is below average being in Bayern… not impressed!

A: Clear golden color and an off-white rather compact, medium-tall head. Dissipation takes some time and leaves rich lacings behind.

S: Clean, mild honey-like sweet malt, bready. Reminds me of Swedish crisp-bread. Rich bitter hops. Nettles and hay.

T: Rich and almost creamy smooth malt, sweet and bready. Bitter hops are rather mild for this style, but actually rather well balanced with the malt.

M: Aftertaste is a bit short, but lovely bitter. Body is so smooth, medium-full. Carbonation is rich, but the bubbles are so small and non-aggresive.

O: A Bavarian Pilsener - not as heavy on the bitter hops as the Pilseners from northern Germany, but still nice.

Half-litre flip-top bottle taken on 16 Apr 2011 in the excellent 'Aufsturz', Berlin.

This is a good example of a Southern German Pilsner, smoother than those from the north, but full bodied and showing all the favourable attributes of the style: clear, golden colour, snowy white head and a hop content which is notiveable but not obtrusive in any way.

A little stronger than most Pilsners alcohol wise, but it hides it's strenght well. Easy to drink and even with a slighty bitter hop aftertaste it is one of the best Pilsners I've ever had.

Classic taste for a classic style. Big bitter - hoppy, bready beer. Much more taste from the smell to the taste. This is just a bigger in every way german pilsner. Pretty drinkable, but can't imagine putting to many of these down in a row, totally filling. Cool artwork as well.

On-tap at Beachwood,

A: Pours golden with a soft white head, lots of good lace.

S: Very bready, heavy pils type malt, sourdough.

T: Crisp full bready pils taste with a good hop balance. Nice grassy hop flavour. I like it, but it's not striking.

M: Crisp, clean, easy drinking.

D: Solid stuff. Definitely a likeable beer and a crowd pleaser. Glad to try it again.

First and foremost, this is my favorite label art for a beer. The beer itself wasnt half bad either.

A: Hazy yellow, poured similar to a wheat. Nice fluffy white head that did lace parts of glass. Retention ok.

S: Earthy, pine, some buttery bread, and some citrus sweetness.

T: Citrus and earth tones present, and like the smell it goes down with some sweetness.

M: Cleanses the palate nicely. Crisp and flows nicely.

D: Extremely refreshing. Good example of a Pilsner style.

Bought during a German road trip. Bottled. Pours dark gold with a one inch head that fades quickly. Initial taste is good bitter hop flavor, not sweet. Leaves a bit of small lacing. The clean mouthfeel is typical of most German beers from the region. Slight grain, hoppy and a bit more stout than I expected. Finish is more of the same... good bitter hops kick and malt that sticks to your taste buds. I need to seek out the source next trip to Germany and see how it is on tap. A very good beer.

A: Deep, hazy yellow, light head, decent lace.

S: Earthy, biscuity, sweet.

T: Mirrors smell closely. Honey, biscuits, slight lemon on the back. Hops overwhelmed by the sweetness, which is fine by me.

M: Clean, refreshing as hell.

D: Only if I can find a bar serving these! What a nice seesionable brew.

500ml Bottle Purchased at Halftime in Poughkeepsie
Appearance: Deep, slightly cloudy yellow witha 1 inch head that left some decent lacing
Smell: Grain. Not very dominanant
Taste. Smooth, grainy, slightly sweet, with a little dryness at the finish.
Mouthfeel: Very smooth
Drinkability: A very good beer, and worth going back for a second.

Poured from from a 500 ml swing-top brought back from Germany. Appears a clear straw gold with a bit of haze. Nutty and bready with an odd fruit and grain note that reminds me of muesli and dominates the aroma. Finished with a dry biscuit malt note and spicy hops. Overall, this is a well-balanced German pils and something a little different, but still within the style. Yum.

BuBLE pours a clear orangey gold with a cap of light and fluffy-creamy off-white.

Aroma is lightly sweet and solidly biscuity, with a noble, grassy overtone.

Much of the same shows up in the flavor. Solidly biscuity/munichy, subtly sweet with a gentle lemon overtone. Lightly spicy-grassy noble hops finish er off.

Medium bodied and softly smooth and lightly fluffy and creamy.

It's a solid offering for the style for sure. I won't shy away from it in the future. Looking forward to trying some more from Allgauer.

The aroma is sweet with grainy malt and light grassy hops. The appearance is copper gold with a two finger head that falls to near 0 before it should. The flavor is decent with plenty of bitterness to counter the sweet caramel malt. I just wish it was a friendlier bitterness. The palate is thin. This fits the style pretty good but does not stand out as particularly good.

On tap at Max's German festival the other day. It was actually listed as a Helles, Dortmunder lager, but regardless.

The beer pours a light gold color with fair head retention and lacing. On the nose there are some pleasing aromas, albeit I don't get a lot. However, there is some light honey, clover and bitterness on the nose. On the palate this beer is really nice. While not made in a blockbuster style, this beer is impeccably balanced and very clean. I get some light honey and citrus, with a very smooth, long finish. Drinkability is nothing short of amazing, with alcohol barely noticeable in this beer. I could happily drink this beer all day.

German craftman ship at it's very finest. For what it is, this is an exceptional beer.

A - amber with a pretty small head
S - not much to the nose - sweet grains and malt
T - grains and malt, with a bit of corn and hops in the end...also a little watery.
MF - very thin and watery, a tad bit of carbonation
D - this is definitely not the most flavorful pilsner I have had, but it was light and easy to take down.
