It was advertised as a Kellerbier. Shortly after tasting it, I knew something was afoot. This friends, is much hoppier and slightly more alcoholic than any Keller I've ever had. Come to find out, this is a bock style. It's not too far off, but certainly not a Keller/Zwickel.

A- Cloudy, burnt orange body with a billowy two finger head that became dollops clinging to the straight sided 40 cl glass.

S- Sort of a Hefeweizen yeasty smell. Spiciness registers faintly. At this point I was none the wiser.

T- Having expected a smooth and balanced taste indicative of the Keller style, I was quite surprised when I took the first sip. Hops are assertive and cover the 7 percent alcohol almost completely. Malty sweetness comes through, but only just barely. A slight metallic aftertaste throws this one off a bit.

M- Rather smooth, almost velvety with very high suspended carbonation.

D- Not very balanced and not extremely complex, but it's a drinking man's beer with enough hops and alcohol (two things we all love) to keep me happy with minimal complaint.

Red in color, with a white foam, average in compactness and quite creamy.
Definitely malty in the smell, not too strong, caramel notes.
Malty inthe taste too, with sharp note of ripe fruit. Not really convincing, a bit boring, a bit heavy, and sugary.
Full body, some alcoholic hint.
Sweetish aftertaste, even if a little less than the taste. Maltynotes, again red fruit.
