Tasted at the Whole Foods in Novato, in their tasting area. Poured into a small pint style glass.

A: Light colored with little head but decent lacing.

S: I get a bit of a roasted smell with this guy. More prominent than I expected for this style. some malt. Very little hop aroma.

T: Wow, roast again. A bit woody. Little hop or citrus flavors. Some light fruity notes.

M: Medium bodied. Decent carbonation. Not a bad mouthfeel, just average.

O: As stated with the Red Rooster review I did, not bad, just unremarkable. Would not purchase a Bomber. Would be interested in seeing how it differed on tap.

Self-described Irish brown ale, not to be confused with an Irish red ale.

Source/Serving: 200 oz. bottle

S: Toffee with a nice kick of semi-sweet ripe cherries. Smooth burned malts linger subtly in the background. No hop character evident. Thin and not terribly abundant aroma.

T: Much like the nose with a sweeter, more malty veneer. Caramel and some cherry/berry fruit character up front with just a touch of stodgy bitterness balancing out the sweet malt character. No hop flavor, slightly metallic and light-bodied. Center is breadier with an oddly unpleasant fruit syrup, fake berry fruit candy character which upon getting even sweeter luckily dries out on the way to the finish preventing too much open-ended sweetness. Has a chewy texture as it finishes with toffee and orange-strawberry fruit mixing with slightly dark malts which readies the palette for the next sip.

Notes: Nose is OK but I didn't enjoy drinking this beer very much and would recommend avoiding it.

Well, I have never been impressed with any Dempsey's beer I've had, but I was pleasantly suprised by this one, actually a decent beer. Now that they have recently started selling their beers in bottles, I decided to try one I hadn't had before.

Copper, is has a small off-white head steadily shrinking to thin ring and no lace.

Aroma is mild caramelly barley, fruit candy, some dry bread, and faint hint of dried-leafy hop. It is mild & simple but fairly good.

Taste is mild caramelly barley, light hint of fruit, light sweetness with faint, vaguely leafy-peppery-woody bitterness. It is pretty well balanced and so far it is in my opinion the best Dempsey's beer. I note that I let it warm somewhat.

Looks like this great little brewery/restaurant in Petaluma is now bottling some of their brews. However...This isn't good. Pure and simple. tastes like they tried to create a Smitty's or Harp clone. Color pours a very clear amber - kind of weirdly thin looking. Keep thin in mind, by the way...Head is there, but it's, again, thin and leaves a little lace. Smell is, you guessed it, thin and doesn't linger long. You need to REALLY pull in a nose to get anything. What there is is malt and maybe a little citrus. But it's gone so fast it's hard to tell. Flavor is - wait for it - thin and nondescript. No real finish. Flavor just disappears. Bad all the way 'round. Don't bother even at $3.75/bomber. Too bad...
