Finally made the trip. It was worth it. Located in a stripmall type setting off the U of M campus, this store was a mecca for good beers and helpful service. The store had hundreds of wines, a respectable selection of hard to find foods, and an excellant beer selection. Upon getting back to the far corner of the store where the beer is almost hidden, I was greeted by Bryan, who worked in the beer section. We carried on a long winded conversation about beers we had tried, new beers he had in stock, and some specials he had going on. I was suprised to find many selections were kept cool, more than even Merchant's in Dearborn. I was lucky to find some Kuhnhenn's that I hadn't seen in bottles previously, and although the best by date had passed, they were boxed and cooled properly to keep the contents as fresh as possible for as long as possible. There was a nice selection of local beers and regional micros that I hadn't seen anywhere else, and Bryan was good enough to tell me which to go for and which to avoid. A decent selection of singles was also present, which is always a bouns. I know I'll be back, as the prices were far better than one will find anywhere else in Ann Arbor. This is a good place to hit up if you're in the area. A recommended stop.

Wow! Just visited for the first time and I have to say I'm amazed. Being a West Coaster this is amazing for me. The selection was amazing. Lots of everything, I wont even take time rather than to note the standouts to me. Dark Horse, Founders, Bells, DFH, Mikkeller, Stone, Arcadia...it goes on and on. They had an amazing mix of singles, 6 packs, 22's, 750's, 3 L's, some mini-kegs too. Also a great selection of glassware which suprised me. I really didnt get any "service" in the store but had contacted "bigdaddywill" who gave me some good advice before my visit. Overall a great selection and the prices were more than reasonable I thought.

I went here to find some Jolly Pumpkins, and was totally impressed with what the had. At first, looks just like a grocery store, I didn't think I had the right place. I walked in and there is a ton of wine. I walked through the maze that is wine and there in the back corner, there it was, BEER. Lots of different bootles and huge selection. The beer guy was there and pointed out some interesting stuff, and he was quite knowledgable about the products (why can't anyone get Short's??). Really nice place inside, and you could pick up some groceries if you feel so inclined.

Bello Vino is a MUST for Ann Arbor area brew-lovers.

They have a HUGE selection of both wine and beer--importand AND local varieties.

The staff there is always awesome--they'll tell you what's selling, what they like, what others seem to be liking, or just any general info/shooting the shit with you. The 3 or so usual beer guys are always friendly and always helpful.

One of my favorite aspects of this place is that they will always single-out ANY bottle of beer from a larger pack for you to try if that is your desire. Not only that, they have a large area of pre-singled out beers already pre-priced for individual sale. I love this, because it's a cheap way for me to try lots of different beers.

Bello Vino is the primo store in the area.

PS. Oh yeah, they have lots of grourmet grocery items as well, as well as a nice, fresh produce section.

In my opinion Bella Vino is THE place to go for beer in Ann Arbor. They have an excellent selection of beer including tons of belgians. I like that they have a rack of single 12oz bottles making it easy to put together a mixed 6, though that gets pricey quickly as they do charge a per bottle premium. The service is unmatched! Jeremy, Drew, and Matt have all been very helpful and incredibly knowledgeable any time I've had questions. Their prices are a little high but nothing to complain about. They also have an excellent wine selection and lots of specialty gourmet foods.

My sister in law took me here to buy some gourmet oils, I had the feeling they would have beer as well, I was very pleasantly rewarded...loads of beer in the rear right hand side corner of this well stocked gourmet foods, wine and beer store...you will find great areas for all things good food, bread, cheese, meats, wine, oils, veggies, sauces, prepaired foods, etc etc...Plenty of varieties of Bells, Stone, Jolly Pumpkin, Founders, Brooklyn, tons of more locals, regionals, national micros, and plenty of Belgians, Germans and Brit imports. Also a well stocked area of over sized bottles and glassware. Two friendly staffers helped me find some nice Michigan wine, so thats good for service points. Nice place, well worth a visit if in this fine beer destination town/area

First time in Bello Vino I was hoping for a large selection of local singles to purchase sadly there were not alot to choose from.Dont get me wrong there is a great selection of Michigan brews to be had New Holland,Dark Horse,Arbor,Kings, and host of others are well represented along with a huge wall of import (a huge selection of German) beers wich I wasnt looking for sadly.A gentleman showed me the array of singles in the corner but there really wasnt as much as I had hoped.Fairly priced I came out with a decent amount for under $40.00 dollars just not the variety I had hoped.

Outstanding. The best thing about Bello Vino Market is the beer department is run by a Beer Advocate GrandCruDrew and he both knows what he's talking about, is willing to help and is great customer service. The nicest person in the world won't sell me a cart full of beer I don't want. The next thing that matters is the *great* beer they had. In PA we get most of the bigger Micro's. I was happy to find Dark Horse, Dragonmead, Arcadia, Jolly Pumpkin and I even cleaned them out of Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout for $5 a bottle. I wish PA had a place like this. Great wine selection. Great beer selection. And ... oh yeah you can get you groceries too. =) !!!

Hope this is helpful.

This store is located North of the city, and one can drive to Detroit after visiting. Well organized and clean, this story has a high number of six packs of local coverage, plus an average wall of Belgiums with nothing different than most Northeast stores that I have visited. The Usual Suspects. Few single bottles. Prices were higher than average for what I have seen for both beer and for groceries. A fast checkouut, no service to speak of, you are on your own. For pricing, I would check the other Michigan stores first.

I have read a lot about this place bing the beer mecca in Ann Arbor. When I first walked in, I was initially astounded by the amount of wine this store had. I do not know anything about wine, but there was quite a few isles dedicated to the fancy grape juice. When I got back to the corner where the beer was located, I was initially blown away by the Belgian wall of beer. Also a massive amount of Michigan beers including Bell's, Founders, Dark Horse, Arbor Brewing, Grizzly Peak, New Holland, etc. Overall, if the beer is distributed in Mich, it will be here. Then I began looking at the prices of the beers... I have never seen a store with a selection like they had for as cheap as it was. Another really cool thing was the amount of beers in fridges. I was slightly concerned by the amount of lighting the fridges, but It seems like this place has a decent turn-around. Also, beers were available by the case, which was nice. A lot of beers were available in singles as well. There was not much in terms of service because I was there later on a Friday, so I did not get to meet the legendary Bonnie. But, the cashier was nice and respectful. All in all, Bello Vino is going to be the place I come if I want to stock up.
