Tapps got new owners about 2-3 years ago and they have improved the place quite a bit. I was there the other week the first time in more than 1 year and was surprised (in a good way); however, I still don't like that you can smoke inside. Another negative thing was the noise level. Even while the bar is almost empty, the music is so loud that you can barely understand your own word.
Draft and bottle selection is nice! There were quite some nice brews on tap, but on the other hand, most of those you can find at a lot of places these days, too. As example goes Longhammer IPA. Prices are ok even though they have a minimum on credit cards everyone forgets to tell you. I did not get any food, but the door to the kitchen opened a few times and the smell coming out of there was pretty good

Tapps is very much in line character-wise with the city in which it's located: Palm Bay. By that, I mean that this "bistro" is unsightly and ugly, sitting in an old, old shopping center off of Babcock and Palm Bay Rd. It's a dirty place with old furniture and rotting ceiling tiles.

Having said that, Tapps does offer a reasonably good selection of beer. Not only do they have many draught pulls (although all way too cold!), but their bottled selection--while admittedly depleted over the years--contains nice suprises like Unibroue's ales. However, as mentioned, you will have to enjoy the beer in a rather unsightly atmosphere (last time I was there, the windows were so dirty you could hardly see through them). The barstaff is very friendly, but expect them to serve your wonderful Trois Pistoles in a "number 8" NASCAR pint glass.

Update: Tapps has recently reinvested in itself by purchasing all new furniture (clean but ugly) and doing some minor remodeling. However, the really great thing is that they have restocked their bottled beer selection and even put it all in a glass fridge behind the bar so the clientele can take a look... When I was there a couple of months ago, they had several *great* beers in there, including several Belgian ales.

preface: I'm recalibrating the Selection criteria to account for the beer vacuum that is Brevard County.

Tucked off in the corner of a strip mall, Tapps is your best bet for finding a unique brew in Palm Bay. Like the previous reviewer stated, though. Tapps is very Palm Bay. Ambiance isn't the best and it's not exactly the place you'd go for a first date. And, on my last visit in January, somehow they'd gotten around the restaurant no-smoking law in Florida. Not sure how that happened.

In any event, the beer list is substantial, but only about half of those beers are in inventory at any given time, so that can lead to frustration. Food's not bad for pub fare and you can usually find a beer you'll like. Just have 2 or 3 in mind for when the bartender tells you they're all out.
