Brewed with oarts, roasted barley and "lots of different malts". Hopped with many varieties, among them Magnum and East Kent Goldings.

A 330 mL bottle.
A: This is a stout ale, pitch black with no secondary colors visible. Dark as night, the ale sits with a small head in my glass, no lacing or signs of carbonation, save for a small pool in the center of the snifter.
S: A thick malty nose leads things off with nuttiness and burnt toast. The bread is strong, a liquid dinner (or dessert).
T: The body is surprisingly thin for such a strong nose. Dark malts, indeed, dominate the landscape with a bit of a whimper. The body is much more of a plain ol' stout, no double, no imperial. Dark malts and a mild hop sensation are all that this one brings to the table, althoug some coffee lingers behind the thin malts.
M: A stout, one that offers up some roasted malts and some coffee but nothing too strong.
D: I'll finish the bottle but this one lacks the oomph that I'd like from a stout.

RBESG 2006, bottle. Dark reddish brown colour, nearly black. Very nice roasty aroma, notes of bakery, coffee, liquorice and dark chocolate. Nice roasty flavour with rye bread and coffee notes, hints of chocolate. A very good stout.

Had this three years ago and just Had it again, this time in Stockholm. (The re-rate bumps Taste by .25.)
Pours an opaque black with a lush brunette head that, regrettably, goes away. (They always do.)
While I got lots of dark, roast malts to smell, the taste came in richer than expected. (Glad this was my dessert.)
But either the hops or over-toasted malts dried out my tongue a bit more than I like. (But obviously, I still like this Imperial.)
Reviewed in "The 1001" Beers To Taste Before You Die", I recommend that you do that also (taste Oscar's Imperial, that is !)
