Ranfurly Draught 4.0% 440ml can [Indep. Brewers, Auckland]
Pours amber with a large foamy off-white head. Plenty of sticky lacing is left on the glass.
Aroma: light mix of bready malts and herbal hops; a bit floral.
Flavor: Mild; good balance although it is sweet up front and mildly bitter by the finish. The hops dominate eventually in the mildly bitter and hoppy aftertaste.
Feel: medium-light body; very smooth; good, very soft medium-high carbonation.
O: a decent but unremarkable NZ beer.

Aroma of boiled egg and sulfur, as far away from charming as one could imagine. Tinny, aluminium can flavour, and really unclean, adjuncts-a-plenty. Close to the foulest beer that i've ever had, it doesn't seem to me that any effort to brew this beer well, was made. Really fizzy aswell.

Its a mystery this one really, I don't know why they make it, I also don't know why I buy it (every weekend). Its damn good value, its also a very strange tasting drop. Malty is the word, theres hops in there but they're pretty damn subtle. Its the price and 440ml cans that lure me back to the rancid ranfs time and time again
I have 2 theories on the origin of this beer:
(1) They threw all the cheapest ingredients in the country together and this is what came out
(2) Some absolute stark raving mad brewmaster wanted to make a beer that tastes like this.
The second theory is so unlikely that I am forced to believe the first.
