Seems like this summer I've become hooked on IPAs. I picked up the Loose Cannon at the local beer store because of the little ratings sheet and because I'd never had it before. Overall it's a good beer. Refreshing and easy to drink after a hot day, which is exactly what I think an IPA should be.
It keeps a thin head and has an attractive golden red color. Good smell, nice taste. My only knock against this beer (why I gave it a 4 instead of 5) is that it's a little sweet for my liking. Not that this is a sweet beer, but compared to other IPAs I've had recently like the 21st Amendment IPA or Bell's Two Hearted the Loose Cannon has a little sweetness that I find less attractive. As the beer warms, it becomes more pronounced, so I guess I should drink faster.

Had it and it was a bit over chilled. First sip is in your face Citra hops with an astringent aftertaste as one would expect with this much hops. Mouthfeel grew as I downed the hopped up elixir. Seemed a bit out of balance malt vs hops. A little more malt would balance this brew. Would order again.
