Notes/Commercial Description:
Burnished gold with a rich citrus hop aroma, it is wonderfully drinkable with a big hop flavor. We’ve knicknamed it Hop3 (hop cubed) ale to reflect the enormous amount of hops in this beer: over 3 pounds per barrel! It is hopped 3 ways: in the kettle, in the hop back, and dry hopped.

Nose: Citrusy and sconey. Strong hop and yeast presence. A little spicy, but well balanced.

Appearance: Nice gold-orange. Not a think head, but clingy. Just a little bit of haze.

Taste: Complex and balanced. Citrus and sweet malt flavors play well against dank hops and bready yeast. A good cross between English and American IPAs.

Overall: Really solid. I've had this one a few times and enjoyed it every single time. I've just now gotten around to reviewing it.

This beer comes off the tap a dark polished gold color with a creamy head just over a finger tall that retains itself well and leaves patchy evidence of itself in good quantity. This is a pretty beer, just a bit opaque but very bright at the same time.
The aroms is fresh and citrusy bitter with an accompanying gentle sweetness to it. There's a lot of tropical fruit in here, and the sweetness is both a sort of juicy one as well as a bit "sugary" (though natural) for lack of a better descriptor. Malts make for a nice balance without taking much away. A bit of alcohol sneaks in underneath.
While the malts make for good balance in the aroma without taking much from the hops, in the flavor the balance is excellent and the hops shine even brighter. This is a great profile, lightly sweet, juicy and a little raw without being herbal, which I think wouldn't work as well in this one, though a bit of green rawness does work. This beer is plentifully bitter without being bracingly bitter.
The body is medium and carbonation is moderate. Crispness and smoothness both play a role here and mingle well.

12oz bottle served in a pint glass.
best buy: Jan notched.

pours a nice, translucent medium amber with a big frothy 2+" head; good retention and lacing. great looking IPA.

nose opens with floral / pine / citrus characters, secondary notes of malt... doesn't jump out of the glass the way my favorite IPAs do, but very nice nonetheless.

taste follows and exceeds the aroma. very nice balance between the hop notes and the malt backbone. medium bodied mouthfeel with average carbonation. very tasty.

overall an excellent IPA, tasty and enjoyable. highly recommended.

This is a great beer. I had it on tap at my local pub, The Royal Peasant in Athens, GA, and I was taken aback. It pours a nice, slightly hop hazed, orange. The aroma is a great mix of floral and citrus. The taste follows the aroma, it has a strong yet amazingly balanced hop character that makes you want to keep taking another sip. Loose Cannon is not the most intensely hoppy IPA out there but it is one of the most flavorful! An overall great choice for an IPA.

A hazy copper color. head is creamy in both color and in texture. Nice looking beer. Smells enticing with a notable piney-ness to go along with the standard punchy citrus American hops. My guess would be Centennial. Also a pleasant malty sweet smell mixed in as well. Strong bitterness, but a clean balanced mouthfeel. Wide range of hop flavors. Maltiness is just enough, slightly filling out the body. Alcohol is obvious but not offputting or hot/burning. Mouthfeel medium-thin, well suiting to the beer. Easy drinking considering how intense the ABV and flavor's are. Always respected and enjoyed this beer.
