Pours a deep, dark brown with coffee colored highlights. Pours a thin tan head that dissipates pretty quickly into a solid ring that lasts for the duration and has decent lacing.
Has an incredibly strong chocolate aroma, like sniffing a candy bar. There is also a slight note of roasted malt and just a hint of coffee.
Taste is not nearly as sweet as the aroma indicates. There are strong chocolate flavors, but there's a dark chocolate bitterness that balances the sweetness quite well. There are some malt flavors present as well, a hint of dark fruits (cherry and fig, mostly), and a bit of an alcohol bite.
Surprisingly light body and carbonation level. Has a smooth, rich feel with a long, dry finish.
Tasty and smooth, but just a little too dry that you'd want to drink more than one

Smooth character and chocolate taste. Normally I like Guiness but this stout is an outstanding substitute. My first taste was in Williamsburg, VA at the Greenleafe Cafe. Good location with a plethora of beers on tap.
This stout offers a good head, a chocolate bouquet, smooth drink and a mild, sweet finish. Not bitter and definitely drinkable. It would be excellent as a dessert all by itself!!
