A: Pours almost pitch black, capped by one finger of creamy pale beige head. Retention is moderate as it slowly recedes to scattered lacing atop the beer.
S: Cocoa and semi-sweet chocolate up front, followed by some roasted coffee and dark malts, dark fruits, caramel and vanilla. Aroma is very well integrated.
T: Cocoa up front again, with vanilla and some sweeter chocolate arriving on the mid-palate. Dark cherries and roasted malts come in near the backend, leading to a blend of coffee, semisweet chocolate, and dark fruits on the finish.
M: A little bit less than medium bodied with moderate carbonation, a bit too thin for the style. Still not bad per se, just not optimal.
D: Incredibly balanced and well-integrated, goes down far too easy for what it is.

Smooth character and chocolate taste. Normally I like Guiness but this stout is an outstanding substitute. My first taste was in Williamsburg, VA at the Greenleafe Cafe. Good location with a plethora of beers on tap.
This stout offers a good head, a chocolate bouquet, smooth drink and a mild, sweet finish. Not bitter and definitely drinkable. It would be excellent as a dessert all by itself!!
