12 oz bottle poured into a Tulip.
A- It was very dark. Black was an appropriate name. The head was very thin and off white.
S- Either my allergies were acting up or this beer didn't have much smell. For something to be called and IPA I would imagine more hops in the nose. Instead I got a whiff of mocha.
T - Once again, I think the IPA on their label is a misnomer, and it is in the correct category here. It was not too bitter, but had a nice chocolaty coffee malt. Very toasty and smooth with no big hops. The malt is definitely in the forefront, and the hops take a back seat.
M - It was easy on the tongue. Low carbonation made it very palatable, and it went down smoothly. No lingering bitterness or taste of alcohol.
D - It was smooth and good. I could down a few of these easily.

Appearance: Black, foamy tan head that never died, nice lacing that held on throughout the drink.
Smell: Heavy peppery hop smell with a slight hint of fruit at the rear of the nose.
Taste: Not at all what I expect from an IPA. Smooth and almost sweet at the front with a quick hit of bitter hops and a slight but not lingering hop aftertaste. Mixed in the middle is a fig/fruit sweetness that comes as quickly as it leaves.
Mouthfeel: Very light for an IPA.
Overall: Quite good for a dark IPA. I'm glad I found this on cask. I'm thinking the cask toned it down. Overall a good drink.
