eyes...
foamy bastard, to be fair I wasn't uber careful on the pour, so right now I am looking at an everest of foam, like a fist worth, ok, it is at normal size now, light cocoa hue head, great lacing of microbubbles forming delicate sheets down the glass, nearly pitch black, can't really
see if there is any carbonation going on but judging from the well fed head I would assume it so, a nice looking beer

nose...
holy bourbon barrels batman, this reeks of heavy bourbon booze, the chocolate takes some work to detect but it is there, this is all bourbon... all the time... so if you like bourbon, pony up slappy

taste etc...
boozy with the chocolate attempting to temper the booze hammer from smashing your face to the point that you look like OJ after he falls out of the stadium in Naked Gun 2 (boy I really stretched that one...), as you acclimate to this the chocolate component is more apparent and the barrel aging kind of lends a nice vanilla note to the finish with subtle bitterness in the background, nice and thick in the mouth, carbonation is there to hold your hand but not interfere, the flavor is really smoothed out, I thought this might get a bit too sweet after a while but it has held out well making you go back for another sip, smooth experience here, not big flavors but nice flavors, subtle chocolate and a decent booziness, the ABV definitely says hello

verdict?
a really smooth drinking brew, the barrel aging really does well here, the initial crazy boozy notes mellowed out and led this to being one tasty somnabeach

Not a big fan of chocolate to start with, but this is an amazing beer!great taste, mouthfeel. If you're a fan of imperial stouts, this is one not to miss! This is truly a diamond in the rough, let it age for a month or 3 and savor every drop. Found this in the "dump bin" and very glad I tried it!

Poured 2014 bottle into New Belgium globe

A-Pours opaque black with a 1-finger dark tan head. Very good lacing.

S-Aroma of vanilla from the wood, with a mild note of chocolate and bourbon beneath.

T-Flavor of coffee with chocolate, and maybe some raisin underneath, before the vanilla and some light heat from the bourbon come through in the finish.

M-Body is full, but a touch watery, with a light bourbon in the finish.

O-Overall a great stout, could get ride of that water down mouthfeel. Was glad to have found this one.

2014 vintage - 22 oz. bottle

A - pitch black

S - mild chocolate notes, not much bourbon

T - pretty nice bourbon and chocolate notes

M - too thin for a stout this big

O - A good effort and a solid brew, but they have a ways to go to catch up to the best BB stouts available

Picked up a couple bomber bottles and am enjoying one which is about 9 months old. Poured this beauty into a snifter. Opaque black with a half inch of coffee cream colored head. Smell is burnt chocolate and light bourbon.

This beer has come a long way in a few months. Very tasty and a beautiful balance of chocolate and bourbon. I don't like too strong of a barrel presence and this stout delivers. The bourbon flavors are there but it does not take away from the the solid chocolate stout base. This beer was a very unexpected treat!,

I have one bottle left which I will try an age another year. I can't imagine it could get better but we will see.
