Poured into a Due South Brewing Co. snifter. Label says 2014.

A- Pours a fully opaque motor oil black color with a 1/2 inch dark tan head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a mostly full sheet of sheer surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves a jagged ring behind.

S- Heavy dark roast that's mildly sweet smelling. Notes of molasses, vanilla and dark chocolate.

T- Big rush of chocolate strikes the palate along with some caramel and vanilla. Eventually some astringent oak is detected but it's quite mild compared to some other BBA beers I've had. The alcohol is also very well-hidden.

M- Thick and chewy with medium-low carbonation and the fullest of bodies.

O- I'm glad I didn't cellar this one since it's just fine right where it is. I've been wanting to try both this and the base beer for a while and this one did not disappoint. Though the barrel presence is quite toned down, so is the booze and I'd rather it be that way than on the other side of the spectrum.

A-almost black with a thick tan colored head

S-roasted malt, lots of chocolate, molasses , and sweet bourbon

T-taste is full of bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, and lightly roasted malt finish

M-a little on the thin side, medium carbonation, dry roasted finish

Overall a little too thin, but still very enjoyable with a delicious smell

A: translucent dark brown pour, black body in the glass; vigorous pour will kick up a few fingers of cappuccino foam

S: wet dark roasted malts and bourbon barrels; chocolate and vanilla

T: following nose deeper into roasty, chocolaty malt, more vapor of dry oak and bourbon, some caramel-edged sweetness; hints of vanilla and vague char

M: thinner than I usually like in an Imperial stout; airiness of oak barrels; slightly drying and lightening effect; smooth and slick

O: once I got past the thin body, I was really digging this beer. A very affordable bourbon barrel stout most definitely worth a buy.

*22 oz. bottle* Ok, first I like the label on this brew. The old Siren's song to misguide the sailors at sea. Well, back to what really matters.. The Beer! This poured a black body with a light khaki soapy head. I go in for the whiff, and it doesn't disappoint! Huge chocolate notes that dominate. The subtle hints of oak and vanilla are appreciated. This beer's aroma is pretty simple but it is intense in your face with this fragrance. lets get this in my belly! First I picked up well rounded charred oak. Chocolate and vanilla seem to meld together brilliantly. There is hints of smoke and roasted malt and some tart fruits. Alcohol is present adds a dryness to the brew so its not cloying at all. This brew finishes bitter but not DIPA abrasive bitterness. Aftertaste is of chocolate and vanilla. The feel of this beer is Medium-light body with tight bubbly carbonation.

Overall: This beer is delicious. I am glad I can go down to the brewery and pick this up when it comes out again. This is not as complex as some others I've had but some times simplicity is all you need if executed correctly. Actually, I am glad this came out of Baltimore. This brew is Recommended.

A: Poured into a snifter 1.5 finger, tan head. Black and opaque, no light getting through even on the edges of the glass. Not a ton of lacing throughout.

S: Super complex nose. Woody bourbon smell upfront that mixes with strong bittersweet chocolate and hints of dark fruits, raisins and figs maybe. Small whiffs of roasted malt as well.

T: Very smooth chocolate right away that stays like velvet until the finish. Followed closely by roasted malt lending a slight coffee characteristic. The end is dominated by woody, bourbon flavor and a slight alcohol sting

M: Smooth but not overly heavy. Easy to sip but if you wanted to quaff a little you could.

O: Good imperial stout, not the GOAT but still very enjoyable. Definitely recommended and a nice example of the style. Fun to see Heavy Seas getting into things like this.

Bomber poured into a tulip glass

A: dark, no light getting through this beer. 2 inch fluffy tan head

S: sweet chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, lactose

T: similar to the smell, milk chocolate, slight bitterness, lactose, vanilla, and finishes with a bourbon warming taste with slight alcohol

M: full body but not overly sweet/syrupy. You should sip this, but it could go down pretty fast

This is a very good BA imperial stout. It's not the most complex, but perfect for a snowy night.
