22 oz. bomber poured into a Sierra Nevada 30th anniversary snifter glass. Liquid comes out a cola brown during the pour and a dark brown that approaches black when it pools its way into the glass. Dark tan colored head with for the most part pretty small bubbles, thick head that will erupt over the glass if you're not careful. Head stays around for a little bit but eventually leaves a thin ring around the edge of the glass. A little lacing, but not a ton.

Smell is a few steps beyond outstanding. Not very complex, pretty mud straight to the point. Heavy notes of more sweet than bitter chocolate, oak, vanilla, and bourbon. Well balanced and meshed together nice. Nothing not to like about this.

Taste is perfect, and like the smell, it doesn't disguise anything, it's again right to the point. Again it's slightly more sweet than bitter. Chocolate comes out, somewhere between a dark milk chocolate and a dark cocoa flavor. There's also some nice earthy oak, huge hints of vanilla, some sweet yet sharp bourbon and then some caramel that was slightly burned in a saucepan. Really great tasting beers, one of the best barrel aged stouts on the market.

Mouthfeel is really good, the flavor lingers, so full bodied in my opinion. It's got a decent carbonation level. Not too smooth, but smooth enough while maintaining an earthy after bite. However, the after bite isn't too bad and even though it's barrel aged, the bourbon isn't too hot here, more of a steady mild. Nice and drinkable, a nice sipper, bot goes away pretty quickly. Worth sharing but any stout lover can polish this one off in an evening. A great beer.

My buddy and I loved this at the Extreme Beer Fest a few years ago. Loved it on tap then and love it in the bottle now. Great beer all around.

Thanks to AtlCarl for this excellent-looking extra, & one I hadn't even heard of. 22 oz. bottle split with my wife in pre-Friday celebration. Bottle dated 2013.

The pour is black, low carbonation, excellent profile. Roast is the most prominent feature coming off the surface, with meek chocolate & bourbon notes. Really might have missed the bourbon if it weren't on the label.

Siren Noire Imperial Chocolate Stout - Bourbon Barrel Aged does a passable imitation of a liquid bar of chocolate. Dipped in bourbon; ain't nuttin' wrong wi' dat. Huge sweet malts up front come with a subtle blast - no, that's not an oxymoron - of barrel, which is more a vanilla hit & echo of heat than an overt taste of the bourbon. Chocolate is mixed in with the malts & ends up subdued as well. Finish is where the roast finally arrives, along with an blunt edge of bitterness. Lovely creaminess. Really drinkable; this one wouldn't last through a single Kobe Tai scene.

This beer is wrong. In a scene with chuck-a-brick-through-your-window barrel-aged stouts, this one oozes dignity, restraint, & quiet. Unfortunately, I like a good row. Nonetheless, a worthy stout & very good beer.

S: Big, milk chocolate notes, faint hints of bourbon, touch of oak, some roasty

L: Jet black, viscous, tan creamy head that dissipates slightly.

T: Chocolate sweetness up front with some slight coffee notes. Medium low bitterness with some bourbon oak following. Not super malty, chocolate dominates. Touch of coffee roastiness into the finish.

M: Medium bodied, medium low carbonation.

Not bad, great nose, but taste lacks. Fairly low body and not malty at all.
