12oz bottle poured into an IPA glass.

A: Golden-orange in color. Thick haze. Big, rocky white head stubbornly persists. Lacing sticks everywhere in a thick, foamy coating.

S: Floral hops, spruce pine, orange peel, peppery coriander, doughy and chalky yeast, hint of alcohol, tropical esters, lightly honeyed malt.

T: Floral hops, soft piney flavors, pithy citrus fruits. Bitterness is ample. Peppery coriander. Light medicinal phenols and a brush of alcohol. Orange peel comes out more toward the back. Honeyed and biscuity malt. Chalky yeast. Pithy hop finish.

M: Medium bodied. Creamy and silky. Low carbonation lets it sit with a little more heft.

O: White IPAs have been a little slower to catch on than I thought they'd be. This one is pretty much as I envisaged the style to be. Great balance. Not necessarily wheat-dominated. Higher abv, good Belgian yeast character, ample hop flavor and bitterness, and some supporting wit spicing. Still very drinkable. Good stuff here.

12 oz bottle into a goblet.

A: Pours a cloudy copper color. The head is about a finger high, with nice retention and excellent creaminess. A solid ring of lacing is left on the glass.

S: I'm really getting a nice orange-y note coming through. Some hoppiness comes through as well...which is also orange-y in its tone. Spicing is very subtle, but I can pick it up. It's definitely more of a hoppy witbier (at this strength, though, we're starting to enter tripel territory) than an IPA in general.

T: At first, there's a sudden rush of candied sugar, not unlike a tripel. Some savory spicing enters the midtaste - coriander, mainly. The finish has a gentle grapefruit-laden hoppiness to it. I have to say that the Belgian yeast works well with the Loose Cannon base, as it comes off more "Belgian-esque" than other Belgian-style IPAs (hi, Stone Cali-Failgique!) In fact, it's more Belgian than IPA - a lot more really. Still good.

M: Really crisp, and decently dry. Since the carbonation is low for the style, it almost comes off a bit syrupy (helped by its full body). Even still, it's pleasant to sip on.

O: Loose Cannon gets ass-reamed by a Westmalle Tripel that's high on coriander, and this is the result. I have to say, it's turned out well. There's just enough IPA to satisfy me, and the Belgian-ness isn't half-hearted in execution. I was pretty pleasantly surprised by this.

Had on tap at Sticks and Stones a few days back.Came in a standard pint glass a hazed orange infused lighter golden with a somewhat creamy bone white head that really stuck to the sides of the glass like glue as it settled into a frothy mass.Light citrusy hops and yeasty spice in the nose, the yeast is bigger in the aromas than flavor wise.Tangerine notes really stand out on the palate along other citric flavors,it didn't seem as "big" as it is either with not a whole lot of alcohol sweetness, mild yeasty spiced notes in the finish. Not a bad BIPA it's not overly yeasty and a nice fresh fruity hop profile.
