12 oz can into a pint glass.

A: Pours a lightly chill-hazed golden color. The head is pretty strong to start (about 2+ fingers high, off-white shade), but it fades fairly quick. Its texturing is rocky as it fades, and leaves behind small splotches of lacing on the glass.

S: I pick up some decent grapefruit, flowers, and pine, all backed by slight malt sweetness. Even some yeasty tones come through. In spite of those qualities, nothing really rings distinct - all the notes seem to muddle together a bit too well.

T: This starts off sweet, with a smooth hop flavor appearing in the midtaste. Overall, sweetness wins out, but not to the point where it's suffocatingly cloying. The aforementioned hop profile takes on a very floral, nectary tone, with lesser grapefruit and earth appearing in spurts. As it warms up, a touch of cereal grains pop up near the finish.

M: Like a good lager should be, crisp and easy to drink. While not particularly clean or dry on the back end, it doesn't seem to hinder drinkability. Solid thirst-quenching properties.

O: Not bad. It's nice to have a steam beer (whoops, I mean California common) not from Anchor. I'd never turn down a free can of this. (1,191 characters)

** I originally reviewed this on 7/8/13, but on their retired Cream Ale with the same exact name.
I just deleted that one and copied and pasted.

12oz can poured into a pint glass. Pours a bright pale golden with a slight haze; fluffy eggshell white head that slowly fades and leaves nice lacing and retention. The aromas are full of sweet malts and sweet corn. Smells like your typical lager to be honest, but in a good way. The flavors are very earthy and rustic. Lots of grass and grains. This one has a subtle hop bite to it. It's slightly sweet. There's also has a subtle spiciness going on. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is slick, but light; moderate carbonation. Very crisp and refreshing. Easy to drink.

This is a good lager. It's not flashy, but it's enjoyable and does what it's supposed to do. Well done. (821 characters)

Poured chilled at home in tall ale glass

A: dark straw, light amber; decent head; very good carbonation
S: light straw aroma
T: flavorful; good hop profile--wood, straw, dry flavor; amber crystal malt is the backbone

This is quite a good lager; very flavorful, solid, and fitting for everyday consumption. (307 characters)

12oz can poured into pint glass.

Pours golden straw in color with a thick 2 finger just off white head. Got your bread malts in the aroma, along with some corn and a every so slight citrus note. The taste is exactly what you would get with any solid lager. It is a little creamier up front and also a little bitter on the back end. I really have no complaints with this one. I got it on the cheap too, which is always a plus. It's just a solid easy drinking beer. (465 characters)
