Atmosphere: Very cool. 60s rock, Stairway to Heaven greeted me as I came down the stairs... lots of seating, could probably put 200 people in the "beer cellar", more out front. Big kegs serve as tables near the bar. The place is fairly dark, with Christmas lights poking out of the eyes of thousands of little pink elephants on the ceiling... and I'm not even drunk yet! Lots of serving trays from everywhere and signs also dot the ceiling. What I really liked: no smoking!
Quality: A hard task given the selection, but the two beers I had were just fine.
Service: Service at the bar! Friendly bartender was busy but made time to shoot the breeze a bit. When I asked about Texan beers, he told me that he didn't know US beers well, but continued on to tell me why American beers were like sex in a canoe, in a very friendly manner. Also mentioned that Belgians don't drink before noon, so they'll have American beer for breakfast.
Selection: Oh, my, God. 2004 beer guaranteed in stock. They have more, but they promise that many. You know the snotty answers you bite back when the gum chewing waitress says "Oh, we have everything!", you don't have to hold back: order what you want: they have it. Personally I had a Pink Killer (which I, unlike most others, liked) and an Andechser Doppelbock Dunkel (why, because I could!) Odd, they really didn't have many US beers, only about 12, some Anchor, some macros.
Value: A touch high, but I'm happy to pay for the selection.
I think this is my favorite bar in the world. Just a relaxed place. I was sad to drain my mug and face the world again.
