The wife and I stopped in here during a recent trip to Brussels while on vacation. We first walked down into the cafe (as the bar is in the basement) and were a bit surprised by all the beers on tap, quite a few that we were unfamiliar with. The bartender was the only one on duty and was incredibly busy even though there really weren't that many people in the place (but they must all have been very thirsty!). When we were a bit indecisive, she pulled out the (literally) phonebook of beer and told us to browse it. We ordered a few from the tap and proceeded to take the phonebook size binder with us to the outdoor tables to browse it, picking our next choices. It was really amazing how many beers this place has, over 2000+(!). All our beers during this session were served in the proper glassware from the breweries (a feat in itself really considering the selection).
Anyway, the service could be better, but I don't really fault the staff. They were really busy helping customers, perhaps there was just too little help. The place really wasn't near being full, but I'm certain it's a chore fetching beer from their vast inventory. We did our part by helping bring in some of the glasses others had left outside and they were very appreciative helps to pass along some good karma.
Great place to stop - but I would hate to see this at peak hours (and I wouldn't want to be a barkeep here either!).

They offer an astonishing selection of beers downstairs from around the globle, with an impressive number of belgian draught beers (24 taps?) at the ground level including Delirium Tremens and others. Knowledgeable folks. Very crowdy and located right next to the touristic city center. An excellent place to visit, infinitely better than the nearby "beer museum"!
