A silky matt brown head. Fairly substancial colour as well. The nose is a penetratingly lively soft sweetie. Delicate lacing is left on the glass over time and sips. The taste is creamy delicate, gentle and delicious. A cleanliness and velvet also dominates.

Like Roger Moore. So suave but ultimately a bit superficial.

330ml Can from BeersOfEurope website (£1.49):
Black with a beige 0.5cm brown head on top that holds quite well.

Sweet and milky with some lactose and a few lighter than expected malts coming through with a touch of chocolate an a little sugar towards the end but the balance is good throughout.

Sweet with lots of milky lactose and sweet roasted malts with a mix of chocolate and very light coffee plus a touch of caramel towards the finish.

Mostly smooth but slightly chewy right at the end. The beer has a medium to full body which is quite impressive given the abv. of this one and as I mentioned it is pretty sweet as well.

An interesting beer and packed a fair amount of flavour considering the below average alcohol content. The taste is pretty nice although perhaps just a little bit too sweet in places but the fact that it's not overly strong makes it a very easy one to drink.

A 330ml can with a BB of May 2012, so it's just out of date. Picked up cheap at a supermarket (individual can being sold off). The ingredients include lactose, so it's a milk stout, and the ABV is surprisingly low at 3%.

Poured into a Sam Smith's pint glass. Pitch black, though revealed as a deep ruby hue when held to the light. Yields a decent head of creamy light brown foam that loiters for a few minutes before collapsing to a surface layer. Aroma of sweet, dark malt with notes of molasses, dried fruit, faint burnt grain and a mildly acidic lactic twang.

Tastes of sweet roasted malt with a dry finish. Notes of molasses, dried fruit, mild roasted grain, subtle stewed hops and a lactic sweetness. Dry upon swallowing, with a flavour that doesn't linger. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy, with tingly carbonation. Good body. A faint aftertaste of sweet dark malt.

Quite nice - certainly a decent flavour for it's strength. Punches above its weight. Sweet and somewhat fruity, but goes down nicely. The body is especially good - runs over the tongue like velvet. I might pick up some more if it's on offer. Worth sampling.

Garnet black with a cratered creamy cafe au lait head. Roast, brown sugar and a disturbing lactic tang on the nose. Chocolate milk and thin maple syrup, a slightly sour middle and some branch and tobacco leaf hops to end. Sugary finish and soft linger. Light, creamy, thin.

For the gravity and style, does pretty much what it's supposed. Kinda like a stout milkshake. Has it's time and place.

Poured in english pint glass form 12oz bottle (no date). Pours dark brown with a fully diminished light brown head. Butterish aroma. Light roasted malt and light liqourice note too. Roasted malt flavour with a mild chocolate smoothness. Roasted malt finish, light acidity. Medium palate and drinkable for a classic beer!

A - Deep black color with a small tan, bubbly head. Not much retention and really no lacing left.

S - Pretty faint but it is predominantly roasted malt with a fair amount of chocolate and some other dark sugary smells.

T - Roasted malts and bittersweet chocolate make up most of the flavor, and the backbone of the beer. Along with these is a bit of caramel and dark/burnt sugar. Some nutty and earthy flavors come through in the middle, and there is a very faint minty taste at the finish.

M - Medium body with low carbonation. Smooth and creamy with a slight stickiness.

D - Goes down easy and with the ABV, you could drink it all day. The flavors are bad, and would definitely solve a thirst for a slightly sweet stout. Flavors are a little weak and don't build enough to really intrigue me into more though.

Notes: Not a bad beer, and definitely does not seem like a 3% ABV. Not overly sweet, but much more sweet than a normal stout.

A - Poured with a jet black body and a somewhat brown head. The head retention was poor, however readily returned when the glass was swirled.

S - The first real aroma from this stout was a strange metallic scent, with sweet liquorish undertones. A heavy smell of dark fruits also came through.

T - Smooth and creamy, with a smoky coffee taste. There is a also a faint liquorish aftertaste.

M - The mouthfeel is full bodied and heavy, which is surprising considering the small ABV of this stout.

D - The heaviness of this stout makes it less drinkable than it's counterpart, however, it does seem to provide a warming feeling without a high alcohol content. I do find the Mackeson's stout a definite heartburn inducer, especially after more than a couple.

330 mL can poured into a glass.

The head was so thick on this (no widget, I might add) that the 330 mL can wouldn't fully pour into my fully capable glass. Forget 2- or even 3-finger heads. This was easily a four-finger head of dark brown foam. It sat on top of a pure black brew.

I didn't pick up much in the way of aromas, only the faint smell of roasted barley malts, and it wasn't all that pleasant ironically.

Tasted very nice. A great balance of sweet and bitter. The first sip tasted very sweet, almost syrupy, but as you get a full drink, it moves to the bitter finish. Very nice.

Mouthfeel is nice and thick, again almost a syrupy quality, but not in a bad way.

The above combined with the low ABV of 3.0 make this a highly drinkable sweet stout.

not bad. this beer needs a bit of roasted charcteristic and more unfermentables for a better mouthfeel.

retention fades decentl quickly as well. good mil flavor but I want more body and a bit of roasted charcteristic.

minty hop aroma lends itself nicely.

hugely disorganized review from my phone

Tasted a bottle, that was far beyond best before date. The beer had gone completly flat (no foam at all). That was very sad, because the aroma of the beer was very promissing; pure chocolate, cacao, raisens and tar.

Due to the missing gas the beer tasted odd, but still the sweetness (milksugar) and chocolat tones were there. A very dry after taste off charcoal and some dryed fruits.
