This is one of my favorite places to stop off and have a drink. They are updating their tap selection constantly. They always have a great selection of local beers from Two Brothers and Goose Island. The selection of bottle beers is growing as well, you can find everything from Miller products to Lost Abbey Ten Commandments.

The food is great as well. The well known Reuben is hard to beat and the burgers are amazing. Overall, all the food is good.

Service is great, the servers and bartenders are always on hand to help in any way possible. It is a real small-town atmosphere.

John's is also very cheap, considering that it is surrounded by St. Charles and Naperville.

Overall, this is a great place to visit. Amazing beer selection, good food and great atmosphere. There is no better place to have it all than John's

definitely a hidden gem considering it's in wheaton, a town which is about as pleasurable as an std test with the giant q-tip at the health dept. like they used to do in the old days, not that i would know. believe me, i know this town, working at the courthouse. i don't mind coming here after work, as they always have a couple two bros on-tap along with a couple other nice selections. hard to believe, given that the bar area is pretty much a dive and nobody around here really drinks at all much less drinks good beer. somebody in management/ownership here must like good beer, because this area is comprised mostly of the lite-and-jaegerbomb masses. the bar is not much to speak of, dark and small, featuring a large oval bar and a few booths. if you're stuck going to court stop by here afterwards to either celebrate or drown your sorrows. this is not a beer bar destination due to the limited selection but decent if you're passing by. food is average run of the mill stuff.

I think this place is a hidden jem. They have a great selection on tap. Fat Tire, Sierra Nevada Celebration & Pale Ale, Goose Island Christmas & Matila, Two Bros. Prairie Path & Dupage Domain (AKA John's Country Ale) to name a few. There are two bars. One in the corner of the building and another in the dining area. I believe there in no smoking in the dining area, which is a plus for me. I thought the food wasn't bad and was priced really cheap. The service I felt was excellent.

If you're in the western burbs looking for a great beer and a burger. This place is worth checking out.

Cheers,
Dave

There is no buffet at John's Buffet; not that I was looking for one. What you do get at John's is really two bars in one, because there is a dining room and a tavern each with it's own bar and set of taps. The tavern side if the more easy going half of the establishment, looking very Northwoods with bricks walls and an interesting scallop-shaped bar. The beer choices here are more basic than in the more formal dining room. I chose a Sam Adams Summer Ale for $3.75 a pint. The Sam Adams was just about the only craft brew served in the tavern half of this place. Cheap drinking can be had in the tavern for $4 a pitcher if you don't mind drinkign Miller High Life. Beer advocates may be more interested in the bar in the dining room, which has features taps such Bell's Amber, Great Lakes Dortmunder and Hop Rod Rye, along with the local Two Brothers beer. The food menu is the same whether you sit in the smoky brick tavern or the slightly art deco dining room. You can't go wrong with the burgers, but the place also offers everything from chicken Caesar salad to prime rib. The beer can be a little pricey, but the food is very reasonable. A definite oasis in the middle of DuPage County.
