An authentic example of a Bavarian Hefeweizen. “Hefe” means cloudy or yeasty and “weizen” means wheat. This beer is made with mostly wheat and uses a true Hefeweizen yeast that gives it a fruity, banana aroma with just a hint of cloves. The tart finish makes this the perfect summer beer.

Very nice, somewhat similar to Weihenstephaner hefe. Banana flavors up front with pleasant cloves in the end

So far, my favorite hefeweizen. Actually, there is one I like better, but it has been years and I cannot recall what it was, but for an everyday hefe, this one is perfectly fine!

Look: Pours a really pretty looking golden, transparent yellow color with a generous two finger head of rocky, bone white foam that fizzles away rather quickly. Leaves no lacing with below average head retention.

Aroma: Nose is comprised mostly of sweet banana bread and very mild clove, with just a touch of honey and bubblegum in the foreground. Smells very good.

Taste: Really excellent flavor. It's bright, dry, crisp and floral with just the right amount of sweetness to round it out. Upfront floral notes of slightly waxy and dry flavors of raw honeycomb and freshly picked parsley. Goes sweet very briefly, with malty flavors of French bread / sugar cookies and bubblegum. Ends on more really fresh flavors of parsley - with a touch of lemon verbena and banana.

Feel: Mid-light body. Crisp but not watery. Low-mid carbonation levels. Sessionable - you could drink this all day with absolutely no problem.

Quick aside before I close out this review - I had bought a six pack of this, the first three I drank were phenomenal - the fourth one I had was clearly infected - it smelt like sour cheese and tasted like a white wine. The other two beers were fine, but Yazoo has to do a better job of sanitizing/sterilizing their cans before they bottle their liquid. Not pissed or anything but that's definitely something that can be easily fixed by just being a bit more cautious and thorough before bottling.

Overall this is a pretty damn good Hefe. Would highly recommend if you can find it fresh.

Had on tap at Flying Saucer Draught Emporium

On arrival 1 finger of fine white head was present that over a few minutes receded to a covering and good ring around the glass. Body is a lightly hazy golden straw. Some lacing is left.

Aroma is doughy and spicy banana. Very soft an smooth with only a touch of bite, as it should be.

Taste isn't quite as full as the aroma but it's still good. This beer is quite wheat and doesn't have as much yeast character as I'd like, but it's still very good and the yeast is a light vanilla with a nice dose of banana.

Feel is right in the middle with a slight dryness but the wheat makes this very full feeling making this quite versatile, but some might want this to feel bigger.

Overall this is a very tasty hefe that is quite drinkable. Not the hugest hefe but the yeast is just right.

12 oz can, poured into a weizen glass at 40 degrees F.

L: Mildly cloudy straw gold, topped with a thick band of white foam. Decent retention and lacing.

S: Ripe wheat, coriander, cloves, bubblegum, and faint banana.

T: Exactly as the aroma advertised, which was a delightful surprise for a US hefe. The fruity esters are quite noticeable.

F: Fluffy, but not quite as full and fluffy as a hefe might warrant being.

O: A solid, enjoyable hefe.

Simply a solid example of a Hefeweizen. Nothing blows you away, but it’s easily drinkable. Only major thing was that the head was pretty weak and dissipated quickly, which I don’t like to see in a Hefeweizen. Definitely could tell the banana smell and flavor. Overall, solid beer.
