Notes/Commercial Description:
An authentic example of a Bavarian Hefeweizen. “Hefe” means cloudy or yeasty and “weizen” means wheat. This beer is made with mostly wheat and uses a true Hefeweizen yeast that gives it a fruity, banana aroma with just a hint of cloves. The tart finish makes this the perfect summer beer.

Pours a clear, pale yellow color. 1/5 inch head of a white color. Slight retention and slight lacing. Smells of yeast, sweet malt, citrus (lemon), and slight spice (clove), and hint of wheat. Fits the style of a Hefweizen. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of wheat, yeast, slight hops, spice (clove), and sweet malt. Overall, a rather above average Hefeweizen, nice body, blend, and flavor.

The beer pours like the typical hefeeweizen. Cloudy, hazy and grainy with a thin white head and spotty lace. The smell is faint and grainy with a back draft of banana, cloves and pepper. The taste is a bit thin and watery up front, but perfectly balanced between the banana and cloves. hints of black pepper and a tart hop bite in the background. A bit thin and watery, but a creamy swallow. Simple, refreshing, and easy to drink.

A – Banana gold with a light haze. Almost no head.

S – Bubble gum, light sour apples, banana, and a lace of salad greens. Strange, but surprisingly pleasant.

T – Bright, prickly lemon acidity mellows into sweet banana, caramel, and Clementine. The finish is fantastic, and absolutely loaded with wheat.

M – Lively carbonation into a smooth, medium-full body. Sweet finish.

O – Refreshing with a great wheat character.

Pours a slightly hazy solar yellow with a thin white head - not impressive, but I am prejudiced in favor of dark beers, so I'll go easy since it's a hefe. Strong aroma is wheaty and yeasty with a slightly sweet lemon overtone. Yummy flavor is wheaty and yeasty and has a firm citrus undertone. There is a slight soapy hint, but this comes and goes. Texture is thick, smooth and finely fizzy. A good summer beer.

Bottle shared by Lee at the Brick Store.

Pours clear yellow with a small soapy white head that dissipates almost immediately and leaves no lacing.

The aroma is heavy on the tart lemons with a subtle underlying sweet banana and bubble gum sweetness. Sweet malt and yeast make up the rest. Not much spiciness that I could tell.

The taste also starts with a tart lemon zing which gives way to a very modest hefe base with some ripe bananas and cotton candy. The finish is very dry and slightly tart.

The mouthfeel is highly carbonated and drier and a bit more tart than most hefes.

This is a solid beer but not one my favorite hefes. It's a little more tart than I'd prefer with a bit more sweetness. Still, not bad.

Hazy yellow/orange in color, pale, with a white finger plus of head. No lacing.

Smell is nice, with some citrus, graininess, slight malt sweetness and some banana.

Much of the same. Bit more on the banana though.

The feel is a little silky, smooth, light in body. Decent carbonation.

Pretty good drinkability. Multiples would be good.

“No naked ladies” were involved making this, per the dated label notched 4th week of July. Darn.

Champaign pour of lemon yellow, nice pop on top of white head and lace. Tons of yeasties on the bottom really funk it up as I swirl. Musty aroma of Bavarian wheat, not much but a tiny smack of banana and clove amongst the lemongrass backbone – too restrained for this to be a top notch Hefe.

Well developed body and tart finish. Close to being a 4 brew, needs another step up the ladder.

Many thanks to unclejedi for the bottle sent as part of CEO/Old Fart BIF.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a 20oz imperial pint. Thanks to HollyAnn for the hook up!

Bottled on: Jan/Week 2 (2008 I assume)

A: Pours a hazy pale gold color with a creamy white head that's two fingers in height. Although fed by some active carbonation the head dies pretty quickly, leaving a small amount of lace behind.

S: Nice yeasty aromas of banana and clove followed closely by some tart fruit and a mild breadiness.

T: Enjoyable yeast flavors (banana, clove, and bubblegum) that have biscuit-y, bread-y, and toasted crustiness nipping on their heels. Also along for the ride is pepper and a tart and slightly sour citrus flavor that lends some balance.

M: Pretty chewy and pleasantly spicy on the tongue. Interesting peeks of dry/toasted malt.

D: Very good. I bet this is very popular around Nashville in the summertime.
