Many Mexican beer styles today are descendants of old Austrian styles, from when Austria ruled Mexico in the late 19th century. Our Dos Perros is made with German Munich malt, English Pale malt, and Chocolate malt, and hopped with Perle and Saaz hops. To lighten the body, as many Mexican brewers do, we add a small portion of flaked maize. The result is a wonderfully bready malt aroma, balanced with some maize sweetness and a noble hop finish.

Okay you Dos Equis lovers, that is the brand of brown ale Yazoo fashioned this on after, so if that is you're thing, this one's for you!

I had this one several times on my trip through Nashville and Yazoo suggests serving this one with a lime. I had it both with and without, and I prefer it with.

A: Poured a fairly translucent, toasted brown color, with a dark, chewy center, surrounded by a much, much lighter brown hue. There was a slight, off-white ring around the brew.

S: Slight brown sugar flair, with a fresh, clean cotton scent. If you choose to use a lime, you'll get some of that too.

T: Light in body, but with a pleasant, refreshing taste, which wasn't heavy or overbearing. I see why this one pleases the masses.

M: Light and dark are the operative words. It goes down as smooth as the silkiest lager, but still enough candy and char to please the craft beer nut. Slight carbonation and virtually no lacing.

O: Like I stated before, this won't please everyone, but I tip my hat to Yazoo for making a Dos Equis-style brew that is at least twice as good as the afore-mentioned brewski.

Bottle poured into a pint glass.

A nice amber color with a slight 1/4" head, visible effervescence.

Smelled malty and sweet. Not too strong.

The taste was slightly malty, but could taste corn sugars which left a poor after taste.

Mouthfeel was to be expected, not heavy with a substantial carbonation. Very Drinkable.

It was okay, not my particular favorite and not on par with some of the other brews from Yazoo.
