Notes/Commercial Description:
Many Mexican beer styles today are descendants of old Austrian styles, from when Austria ruled Mexico in the late 19th century. Our Dos Perros is made with German Munich malt, English Pale malt, and Chocolate malt, and hopped with Perle and Saaz hops. To lighten the body, as many Mexican brewers do, we add a small portion of flaked maize. The result is a wonderfully bready malt aroma, balanced with some maize sweetness and a noble hop finish.

Appearance looks much like iced tea - dark brown and transparent around the edges with a small quick-fading head. Malt and floral scents are weak. The taste is a bit sweet, bready, and a bit herbal. Mouthfeel is on the thin side. Not bad, but not great either.

Got this one in the 2012 Birthday BIF from bstaffor; thanks Brian! Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into my Goose Island nonic pint glass. Bottled in the second week of December 2011 according to the label.

a - Pours a somewhat transparent medium body color with two fingers of light tan head and moderate carbonation evident. Head lasts for a few minutes and an inch throughout drinking it. A tiny bit of lacing left on the glass.

s - Smells of nuts, roasted malts, toasted malts, chocolate, cocoa, spices, bready malts, grains, and caramel malts. Prett nice.

t - Tastes of roasted malts, chocolate, toasted malts, caramel malts, nuts, spices, bready malts, corn, and grains. Still pretty nice, but not as strong as the nose, and a little bit of a step down.

m - Medium body and moderate carbonation. Very smooth and creamy. Very easy to drink.

o - Overall a nice session beer and a nice brown ale; I liked this one much more then their Pale Ale. The nose and taste are a nice mix of nuts, roasted malts, and caramel, and it is very easy to drink with the smooth body and very low ABV. Worth checking out and would have it again.

Poured out of a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

A – Poured out a dark copper brown with a half inch of tan head. No real lacing.

S – Faint smell of chocolate and cocoa. Light roast malts.

T – Comes on with a mild roasted malt flavor. Trace bits of sweetness from cocoa. Earthy. Some caramel flavor. Finishes with a tiny bit of hop bitterness.

M – Clean and almost fizzy mouthfeel. Medium bodied but tastes just a bit on the thin and watery side.

O – Little thin for my liking but it has a nice easy drinking flavor. Could absolutely have a few of these sitting around. Good not great but well worth a buy.

Picked up a sixer of this beer during my vacation in Gatlinburg, TN.

Cola brown, yet clear in color with two fingers of head and a nice thick film o' foam. A little lace stickage and some nice bubbling too.

Light powdered chocolate form the mild to medium roasted malts. Just a light dash of grassy, clean hops to balance out the malty aroma.

The roasty flavor is on the mild side mixed with toasted bread crust. The hops add a nice earthy, grassy flavor that cleans and refreshes the palate for another sip.

Palate is bubbly and dry but super sessionable. Wish they had this on tap by me in IL.

Thank you arkansastroy for this.
12 oz bottle, dated April 2011?, poured into a pint glass

A- Clear brown with a three finger head yhe disappears quickly.

S- Cocoa and toffee malts with some earthy hops, kind or weak.

T- A sort of light cherry/metallic tartness, roasted malts, light chocolate, light flavor. Doesn't taste like the tartness is intended do to the fact that it is not balanced and out of place, but not off putting.

M- Light body, crisp.

O-This is okay, really doesn't seem like a brown ale. I would not mind trying this again to see of the tartness was a bad or out dated bottle. Maybe 10 months old is too old.

Beer pours a nice dark brown color with zero head.

Beer smells of roasty malts, slightly of coffee and a bit of sweetness as well.

Beer tastes the same. Very roasty on the initial sip and finishes slightly sweet with a slightly corn taste.

Mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side. A bit watery.

Overall a solid session beer.

Appearance: Looks like a glass of Coca Cola. No head.

Smell: Sweet and malty, molasses, brown sugar. The smell is faint and weak.

Taste: Exactly like the smell.

Mouthfeel: Thin, watery, but with a nice carbonation and a stigy bite that I love.

This is a real thirst quenching beer. It's mild and enjoyable. I could drink a lot of these and be happy. However, the flavor isn't strong enough to be a really good beer. Nothing to write home about.
