This ale was brewed with cherry-wood smoked malts, aged in bourbon barrels, and slightly soured.

Received a 25.4 FL. OZ. bottle of this in a trade w/ CurtisMcArthur. Poured from the Black labeled bottle w/ the Red Yazoo brand into a 12oz Snifter Glass. Does not have a bottled on date.
Aroma- A ton of red wine, bourbon, and funk hits the nose all at once. Quite a challenge to take each of the characteristics in this nose and separate them. Finishes with a bit of scotch as well.
Appearance- Pours a 1 finger head that has fantastic retention. Has a deep brown colored body and leaves dark suds behind.
Flavor- A very "petey" taste comes up at the beginning and then breaks into a smoked beer. Malts are very well blended and the finish is quite acidic. I found no hops in this guy (like it should be).
Mouthfeel- Medium Bodied, Light-Medium Carbonation, Smooth, Small puckering with both smoke and scotch throughout. Very Complexed!
Overall Impression- Can we add a Smoked Sour Style? This one was fantastic! Tons of character while having a smokey, scotch ale like base. HIGHLY recommend trading for this beer if your able to! Thanks again Curtis for the kickass brew!

-Surprisingly came across a bottle of this. I was aware Yazoo had released this infected sour batch of Sue in very limited 750ml bottles. I knew about the story and history of this beer so there was no way I wasn't going to drink it. The bottling date on the beer is Dec 14, 2011 & was released at the Yazoo Brewery thru a drawing a couple months later. Yazoo's Fortuitous pretty much tasted what you think a smoky spontaneous infected sour Sue would taste like in five years. There is a lot going on, with some flavors really good and some not so quite. I think I would of loved this beer somewhere around 2014 but I definitely appreciate it in 2016. Glad I got to try this. I wonder how many bottles are actually still around??

From a bottle left over from World Beer Cup...I think.
Poured in chalice at private backyard tasting.
Pours a dark brown with tan head.
Rich aroma of chocolate, tannin, dark roasted malts, and mild smoke.
Medium carbonation and strong mouthfeel.
Flavors of light cola, modest malts, minerals, peat, watery coffee, bourbon, dark chocolate.

Thanks to Drabmuh for this. Served in a cervoise. Pours a very dark brown with a nice lasting tab head and quite a bit of spotty lacing. Nose has some chocolate and roast, no hint of the underlying infection. Flavor is a nice porter with a bit of lactic acidity and a moderate funk and cherry presence. Medium body and a bit creamy. Quite nice.

Poured a dark brown, somewhat nearing black, with a tan head. The aroma was slightly smoky, with a slight acrid tartness on the nose and a hint of bourbon and vanilla. Taste somewhat followed that; only mildly tart or acidic, a little barrel presence, and touches of chocolate and smoke. Nothing is too in your face, but it's nice to drink. A bit of elevated carbonation, which could be expected.
I'm presuming that this was an unintentional infection of barrel-aged Sue, that seemed interesting to bottle. And it was. It was interesting and worth the try. But having had Sue, this particular treatment kinda just made me miss Sue, because she's a great beer and this doesn't really do her justice.
