12 oz. bottle stamped [73 2. 3.] served in a lager glass. Pours clear orange-amber. Moderate sized, very creamy and durable head leaves plenty of lacing clinging to the glass.

Aroma: relatively appealing, hop-dominated, but with a clear note of baked bread showing from the malts.

Flavor: like the aroma, plenty of hops here along with a solid malt base. Moderately bitter at the peak, which appears in the aftertaste. Complex hop-induced flavors.

Feel: medium body; fairly soft, medium carbonation; a touch sharp.

O: a fine IPA worth seeking out.

From 08/10/13 notes. Had a bottle of this at Merchant's in Nashville, TN on Broadway. 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.

a - Pours a hazy amber orange color with one inch of off white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of fruity malts, light citrus hos, pale malts, bread, and earthy malts. Not bad but not very hoppy, and not a ton going on.

t - Tastes of citrus hops, fruity malts, pale malts, bread, toasted malts, and musty, earthy notes. More citrus hops here than the nose, but still not a ton. A slight step up.

m - Medium body and low to moderate carbonation. No bite at all.

o - Overall a decent beer, but not very hoppy. Would look at it more like a malty APA than a hoppy IPA, but oh well. Probably wouldn't seek this version out again but better than some of the BMC beers on Broadway.

A - Pours a clear amber / orange with a nice head. Decent head retention and stick at first, but quickly disappears.

S - Citrus hops, malts, bread, tobacco, grassy.

T - Nice hop punch up front followed by a big wave of malts for balance. Finishes clean with a bit of a dry mouthfeel. Medium bodied - very drinkable.

O - This is the 4th of a mixed sixer of all Yazoo brews that a friend sent from Nashville and I'm getting a theme - They are all drinkable and decent brews, but nothing that is going to stretch the limits of craft brews. This follows that to a tee - good brew, but more on the meh side of things.

12oz bottle dated 7/3/13. Batch 73 apparently has Kohatu hops, no clue what those taste or smell like. Color is cloudy amber, decent head. Aroma has notes of honey and fruit. Flavor is more of that honey, some minerals, slight bit of bitterness. Overall a pretty ho-hum IPA. I like the idea behind this project I just think I've encountered more duds in the series than not.

Poured into a pint glass. Was not expecting to like this one, but been wanting to try it for a while since it's so readily available around here in Nashville. This beer really surpassed my expectations. My go-to grocery store IPA (when I can't get all the way to the liquor store) has been Sweetwater IPA, but this might be my new go-to! Good, not overpowering bitterness, very hop-forward, nicely balanced grapefruit and honey finish. To me it's a little more well-rounded than Sweetwater. Color is a little darker amber than many beers I like, so I was expecting it to be a little skunky -- but it's not at all. Always nice to be surprised by an inexpensive IPA. I hope Yazoo sticks with this recipe, and maybe decides to put the ABV info on the packaging next time around.
