Served up on-tap in a pint glass.
Pours a deep, dark brown with reddish-brown highlights. A short, creamy cap of off-white foam holds tight until the end, leaving fat sheets of lace on the walls of the glass.
Nose contains subdued notes of roasted malt along with a bit of sweetness, perhaps a whiff of hops, but nothing much else.
A rounded, medium body holds a middling level of carbonation. Flavors of darkly roasted malt, toasted biscuit, a bit of dark chocolate and a touch of bitter hops course over the palate, with a dry and roasty finish.
Quite a drinkable ale, and a wonderful match for the hummus plate that I enjoyed alongside it, with the earthy flavors of the black beans and chickpeas matching the herbal hops in the beer, and the toasted pita bread playing right along with the brew's toasted biscuit notes.
