Lots of coating up and down the sides of the glass led to a rich coating of suds all over the sides. The aroma was very light, Touches of light hops, piney with a note of grapefruit mixed in, but mostly dominated by a light grain like aroma. As it warmed a bit buttery brought into the mix as well. The flavor was light, nice pale ale here and very well balanced. Initial rush of hops was quickly overtaken by a very smooth and very well balanced mid palate malt profile. I was really impressed here with how nicely that came together. Smooth, light carbonation kept it from feeling too overdone and made for a very session able little ale.

Overall while not mind blowing in anyway it was very nicely done. I would have no issue at all with try thing this one again.

Served in a flight of 2-3 oz. (not sure which) sampler mugs.

Golden amber in color, with a thick, creamy off-white head with superb retention, leaving thick rings of foam along the glass.

Smells of faint floral hops.

Body is medium and lightly carbonated. Sweet and slightly fruity on the palate, with a slight hop bitterness in the middle, with a medium-long, sweet finish.

Nicely drinkable, and overall a nice example of an APA.

Yet another great beer from the small town Aiken Brewing Co.

A:The beer had a straw color with an average head.
S:There was a good deal of hop aroma coming through the noise. There was also a good deal of citrus, too.
T:There was some bitterness to it, but it was average for an APA. Also the bitterness was very smooth with no harshness at all. There was a pronouced flavor of citrus from the hops. This has been one of the best APA that I've had in awhile.
MF:Medium body.
D:I would definatelly drink this beer again. It tasted great and wasn't heavy to drink.

Appearance: Arrives at the table with a cloudy light amber color and a decent head that leaves good lacing

Smell: Grainy and citrusy

Taste: Biscuity and malty up front with an increasing citrus bitterness emerging, mid-palate, that builds, after the swallow, into a balanced but slightly harsh finish; there is a touch of residual sweetness at the tip of the tongue

Mouthfeel: Medium body and moderate carbonation

Drinkability: Refreshing and balanced; a nicely hopped pale ale that would certainly be viewed as somewhat restrained by a West Coaster

The pour is golden amber. Smallish white head, but some nice sheets of lacing stuck to the glass.

Nice, sweet hoppy aroma. Despite the name, I wasn't expecting a typical West Coast hop bomb, which this was not. Lots of citric notes in the nose. Flavor starts out sweet (both malty and citric), then transitions into light hop bitterness.

Medium body. Carbonation level is fairly low. Really, really smooth drinker. Super easy drinker. Very enjoyable beer, and one I'll be going back to often.

I was served several pints in chilled glasses at the Brewpub in Aiken, SC.

A: It poured a slightly hazy straw yellow body with a modest bone white head (one finger). The head retained well and supported fairly consistent lacing all around the glass.

S: It had a grainy malt aroma spiced with lemony and citrusy odors.

T: It was grainy and malty up front with a slight sweet malt flavor that was quickly overcome by the bite and bitterness of the hops. It had a bitter finish and a sour aftertaste.

M: It was a light to medium bodied brew with moderate carbonation. It finished with a bitterness that remained in the aftertaste and became sour.

D: The beer is closer to an IPA than an APA. The hop profile reminds me of the over-hopped West Coast beers. It was ligth and had a low ABV so those that like a hopped up APA will find this beer a treat.
