Notes/Commercial Description:
Generally available in mid to late October, this rich reddish amber lager has a dense, rocky head and subdued hoppiness which accentuates the sweetness of its malt flavor. Perfect for Autumn afternoons!

Day thirteen of the München Oktoberfest took me to the Aiken Brewing Company, where they had just put their Oktoberfest on-tap. I tried the Oktoberfest along with their other offerings in a flight of 2-3 oz. (not sure which) sampler mugs.

Pours a dark copper-amber hue with a slight off-white head of foam that leaves light lacing on the glass.

Aroma is mostly of sweet toffee-like malt.

Medium-bodied, with notes of sweet caramel up front, with a bright, fruity hoppy middle along with a bit of nuttiness, leading into a long, sweet finish.

A highly drinkable brew, and an excellent representation of the style. This one sticks out among some of the Oktoberfests I've tried this season.
