Another Colorado pickup. Another brew without the courtesy of a date or an ABV.

Poured a thin head over a reddish orange body. Not much to look at honestly.

I smell malt and caramel.

I taste malt and caramel. It's a little grainy and earthy as it warms.

The mouthfeel is a smooth medium body. It goes down quickly and is actually rather refreshing.

This beer is no longer retired. Had a sample at the brewery and brought a bottle home.

Pours a dark amber color. Decent head upon pour, disappears to a thin layer. Some decent cling along the sides.

Smells nice. Toasted malts. Tastes nice too, same sensation. Toasted malts. No hops. Easy drinking. Very little carbonation (which is something I've noticed in all Estes Park Brewery beers). But the mouthfeel is satisfyingly full and flavorful.

This one was worth bringing back.

Bottle shared by my brother in law.

A - Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a one-finger, tan head of foam. It left no lacing.

S - It smelled malty, earthy and grassy. It really smells like an English pale or mild.

T - Tasted fairly English too, with the malts. Also, an earthy almost scotch ale like bitterness.

M - It was fairly crisp and sharp. A light bodied ale with a dry finish.

O - This wasn't a great amber ale. Seemed slightly flat to me. Not much in the hop bitterness, either.

pours a clear reddish brown, with a thin tan head. smells lightly of grain. taste is initially sweet, with a ton of victory malt flavor in the middle, and an earthy, slightly bitter finish. mouthfeel is smooth. overall a good middle of the road beer.

Beer pours a dark amber/ red (surprise?!) that looks beautiful when held up to the sunny colorado skies with the rockies in the background. A very nice aroma: slight hops and a nice malt character. The mouthfeel is very smooth and delightful with excellent drinkability. This beer is a limited edition amber ale named after "The Shining", a Stephen King book that was composed in part while Stephen was vacationing at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. The hotel in the book is loosely based on the Stanley. The movie, to Mr King's disapproval, was shot in Oregon. The ABC miniseries, to Mr King's direct request, was shot for the most part at the Stanley Hotel. Either way, the movie is good and the beer is even better.
