Sweet George's Brown is outstanding. The smell is outstanding and so it the taste. It has a fine roasted flavor. It just goes down so smooth. It is even better when you drink one while sitting in a hot tub outside in Colorado while snow flakes are falling on your head.

impressed! this local brown ale is a damn good one. pours fuly see through light brown with a good off white head. smells like a brown ale through and through, malty but not too sweet, roasted but not coffee black, just a hint smokey. flavor is the same as the nose, mellow and satisfying. mouthfeel is good too, light for a brown ale, and not too strong. this is a down easy beer, and affordably priced. overall a lovely brown, working well with some 2 year old horsehadish cheese and baguette. will try the other bottled dillon dam brews no doubt

Bottle courtesy of northyorksammy. Thanks!
Mostly clear, medium brown in colour with a thin skim and collar of tan bubbles that lingered. A little bit of sticky lacing. Nice malty aroma, light roast, bready, a bit nutty, caramel. Good flavour too, bitterness stayed just beneath caramel maltiness, notes of roast and toffee, mild minty hop character in the finish. Decent texture, light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Overall, it's a solid brown ale with some tasty malts.

Sweet George's Brown pours a lightly hazy, reddish brown, and is topped by a light beige film of a head. The aroma is bready, and has a light fruitiness, and hints of roast. This smells like a very nice English Brown Ale.

There's a bready sweetness upfront that moves into a fruitiness in the center, that's balanced by a roasty, hoppy bitterness in the finish. This English Brown Ale is medium-bodied, highly carbonated, and has a bit of a coarseness that I associate with roasted malts.

I really liked this beer, it had a nice malt profile that was the focus of the beer, but it was nicely balanced by judicious use of roasted malts and hops.

Served from a 12oz. bottle acquired from a trade with JMBSH as a generous extra (Thanks!) into my new Dillon Dam Brewery pint glass, that Jason also kindly sent my way at the appropriate temperature (05/08/10)

A: Pours chestnut brown with about 1 finger of a light tan that receded quite quickly.

S: Very nutty with a sweet malt backbone and a touch of roasted malt.

T: Taste mirrors the nose with layers of nuts, sweet malt and some roasted malt. Really a nice and clean flavor profile.

M: Lighter-bodied with some appropriate carbonation, but this seemed a touch watery.

D: A very easy beer to drink and this extremely sessionable.

Overall this was a very nice English Brown Ale and I always enjoy trying a beer that is not distributed in my area. Thanks again Jason!

Tried 6 Feb 2009 at the pub.

Clear reddish brown color. Small light brown head. Well carbonated. Aroma is caramel and malt. Starts sweet and toffeeish, slightly nutty. Finish and aftertaste are moderately bittersweet. Medium body with a creamy mouthfeel. Light alcohol.

Tasty, the best of the five I tried that afternoon.

On tape at the brewpub on Father's Day, 6-15-08.

Pint arrived at the table with no head at all. (Why don't they serve 16 ounces of beer in a 20 ounce glass with a line marking one pint?! The Germans and Brits do something like this, so they can pour a proper head, but the customer still knows he's getting a full pint.) Pretty dark-mahogany slightly hazy body. Some small lacing as the beer is consumed.

Smell is of biscuit malt, sweet roll dough, molasses, a hint of chocolate, a tiny note of floral hops.

Taste is surprisingly bold rich maltiness, slightly sweet, a little bit of cocoa powder. Molasses and chocolate notes come up as it warms. Really good. I mean, really, really! Spot on for the style.

Mouthfeel is nice and round, smooth but not sticky.

Extremely drinkable, fully sessionable, just as an English Brown Ale should be.

Appearance - Rich chocolate brownish-red, medium head that dissipates quickly. Some lacing.

Smell - Strong alcohol smell, some hop smell, small chocolatey flavors. Weak in magnitude.

Taste - Slight chocolate/coffee tones, strong alcohol and hop bitterness.

Mouthfeel - Thin, not where I like my brown ales. High carbonation distracts from the flavor.

Drinkability - Pretty good, once you get past the smell the drinkability improves, but not perfect. The large amount of carbonation keeps annoying me as I drink it, but it gets easier as the drink sits for a bit. Not horrible, but I won't go looking for it again.
