A complex sipping beer that may take some getting used to...
Appearance: Clear copper with minimal head
Smell: A faint sweet/sour smell
Taste: Smokey malt with a whiskey back; funky sweet/sour taste (just like the smell)
Mouthfeel: Smooth and creamy, very lingering
Drinkability: Very whiskey and definitely a sipping beer; the sweet/sour thing may put you off though

Toronado. I guess this beer is an ESB aged in St. George whiskey barrels. I'll buy it from the taste, which unfortunately wasn't so good. I don't begrudge the experimentation, but this beer doesn't work. Appearance-wise, it was just fine. A hazy brownish beer with a bit of amber at the edges and a creamy off-white head. Unfortunately, this beer's flavor and aroma are a mess of sharp, odd notes. Both the beer and the whiskey show poorly. The aroma is rubbing alcohol with whispers of more pleasant whiskey notes and biscuity malt. The flavor is harsh and disagreeable. The beer seems too thin for the barrel-aging. There's a touch of minerally hops in the finish. They get points for innovation, but I'd suggest a different approach in the future.
