Dark brown and almost opaque. Impressive head with good retention and lace formation. Ripe banana hits first on the nose. More like banana bread actually. Floral hoppiness. Toffee malt profile. Not much depth of aroma but what's there is nice.
Light in flavor profile, malt-forward but well-balanced by bitterness. Banana and clove notes. Nice malty sweetness. Prickly carbonation that takes a while to settle down. Good flavor for only a 5% ABV beer. This is a solid, if unspectacular dark wheat.

Poured from a 0.5 L bottle into a flared pilsner glass. Moderate hand. No clear date identified on the label.
A: Cloudy, toffee-brown with reddish tint. 2 fingers of slightly rocky, off-white head. Ok retention. Light lacing.
S: Banana & darker fruit. Spice, clove. Sweet bread. Chocolate and toffee are revealed as it warms. Pretty nice.
T: Lightly sweet, fruity and spicy up front. Fades into roasted malt notes. A very light touch of hops. Weiss flavors - spice, banana, bubble gum - reappear in the aftertaste. No alcohol.
M: Moderate carbonation that is a tad prickly at first, but then slightly creamy. Moderate to light body and somewhat less full than I was expecting.
O: Solid dunkelweizen with a nice blending of wheat flavors and roasted malts. Good quality, but a bit lighter than some others in the style.

A: The beer is hazy very dark brownish red in color (black when viewed from afar). It poured with a finger and a half high off white head that died down but consistently left a thin head covering the surface and a thicker collar around the edge of the glass. When I was rinsing out the bottle, lots of large clumps of yeast came out so leave some beer in the bottle and give it some swirls if you want to get all of the yeast.
S: Moderate aromas of bananas are present in the notes along with strong notes of dark fruits.
T: The taste has flavors of bananas and dark fruits along with notes of clove and hints of caramel malts and wheat. Bits of sweetness are perceptible.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is an excellent representation of the style as the taste has lots of complex flavors, even without getting all of the yeast out of the bottle.

16.9oz bottle purchased as a single from Beverage Warehouse, Winooski, VT.
Poured into an imperial pint, formed a 3/4" tan head over the cloudy reddish brown brew. Frothy head collapses ever-so slowly, with thick coating lace. Aroma is banana and cloves, with a slight burnt character.
Taste is sweet to start, cloves and banana and slight burnt in the middle, with a light acrid character coming on at the close. Mouthfeel is smooth, and drinkability is great. Another good brew.

500ml bottle into a New Glarus Weizen glass.
A: Hazy persimmon body under three fingers of dense, creamy tan head. Great retention but only spotty lace. Very nice.
S: Hugely complex aroma: banana, clove, chocolate, fig, and herbal hops. No one aspect dominates, and all are pleasantly enticing.
T: Delicious, but a little more straightforward than the vibrantly multifaceted nose: rich banana bread up front, mild spiciness midway through, and a cleanly bitter, hoppy finish. The bitterness is surprising, and takes away from the smoothness a bit, but is not entirely unwelcome.
M: Soft, creamy, highly effervescent medium body. Perhaps a little too bubbly, but good for the style.
O: Yet another excellent Andechs brew. The relatively high hoppiness for the style threw me off a bit at first, but in the end I really enjoyed it as a complement to the rich malt and ester sweetness.

Bottle poured into a wheat beer glass
Full pour results into a fistful of thick, billowy taupe foam. Translucent dark brown liquid with no visible carbonation.
Aroma of carmaker and bananas , honey, toffee and rich sweet malts. Smells great.
Carbonation on the back of the tongue . Carbonation is not too much. Clean , smooth start. Banana, cloves, sweet toasted malts. Sweet, delicious, quaffable in mass quantities, refreshing. Medium mouthfeel. Bananas again. Clean finish.
A friend who lives in Munich took me to the and echo bar in downtown Munich. Heavenly beers in tap. Never knew that Andechs was available in the USA. Wonderfully delicious and refreshing beer, even for a dunker weissbier. Full flavor, sweet malts. Ill stock up if I can find more. I recommend you do the same.

Bottle from Belmont Station. Holy fuck.
Pouring a very dark brown with reddish brown highlights, this beer is capped with a dense, light brown head with excellent retention and nice lacing. The nose is all sorts of dunkelweizen delicious ridiculousness. Caramelized bananas spiced with cloves and dusted with cocoa just jump straight out of the glass, exceptionally flavorful and balanced. Minimal roast with some toffee, honey and toasted wheat bread are present. The palate is like an alcoholic candy bar, and I mean in the most refined and addictive kind of way. Sweet bananas tempered by toasted wheat and a carbonic acidity; a delicate but fresh and clean clove phenolic character balanced by a touch of chocolate; and a mellow hop character with earth pairing beautifully with the spice and sweetness, this beer is outrageously good. Medium light in body, crisp but creamy in carbonation, this beer finishes dry with a blend of banana, clove and cocoa. The wheat huskiness and carbonic acid lend a cleansing bite to the finish, making this downright quaffable if a hair watery. Still, this is outstanding. Very highly recommended. For under $3 a bottle, it doesn't get better than this.

Pours murky medium brown with a rocky tan foam head. I wish this one would grow a bigger thicker head. I slight disappointment, but a minor one.
Yeast, banana, some clove, a little bubblegum and some toasted aromas.
Tasty and refreshing, big fruit up front, with some sweet wheat and grain. As the palate clears you get some of that dark wheat toast and some bitterness to set the balance right. A little banana/fruit and yeasty wheat in the end too.
Lighter bodied, well carbonated.
Very nice. An under-appreciated style and one that is very well done here. Nice complexity and balance here, with an underlying richness that you appreciate as you drink. Bought one bottle, could easily drink another right now.

Tight, beige head that starts more than four fingers thick. Recedes very slowly leaving a foam dome and plenty of stringy lace on the glass. Deep brown liquid. Appears to be quite clear in front of a bright light.
Smells like chalky chocolate milk. Light alcohol in the background. I get notes of black cherry, raw bread dough and raisin.
Mild, darker malt taste of toast and raw grains. The swallow has a hop presence, but the stronger flavor is of the wheat. Brief sour aftertaste. Thin bodied with a sizable carbonation level.

The beer poured a light chocolate brown color with a 4+ f head in a Weizen glass.
Immediate clove and spice aroma wafting from the glass.
The mouth feel is moderately carbonated.
The taste is strong clove with a lemon aftertaste, and perhaps chocolate.
This beer is different than other Dunkeweizens than I have tasted:
The clove is more piquant- but not overwhelming.
The beer is well balanced. Although the body is slightly more watery than other Dunkelweizens.
it is quite enjoyable.
A classic taste from an old brewery.
