Since Saint Joseph’s Day on 19 March 1993, Andechs Weissbier Hell has found many new friends. Untreated and bottled in its natural state of yeasty turbidity, this is a top fermented beer for the epicure.

Its light honey colour makes it an immediate eyecatcher. Then there’s the opalescence and fine structure of the yeast turbidity. At the same time, the creamy, fine pored head invites you to get to know this light Weissbier from the Holy Mountain. You’ll need two takes to enjoy the aromas to the full.

First, distinctive fruity aromas like banana and honeydew melon come to the fore, followed by fine cloves. Andechser Weissbier Hell is a very tangy, refreshing treat with the conviction of a full, soft body. It concludes on a finely balanced interplay of light sweet honey and a delicate acidity with undertones of bitter hoppiness that quickly subside into a harmonious aftertaste.

A Weissbier that embodies a slice of the Andechs lifestyle: finely yeasty, tangy, and sparkling, it refreshes and renews the thirst for more

Poured from a .5L bottle to a hefe glass the color very cloudy yellow orange with good carbonation. The head is big and white and leaves some nice lace.

The smell is a classic Bavarian hefe, lots of banana and clove.

The taste is also quite good, really not much more to say the this is reall good, high quality hefe weitzen.

The mouthfeel is good lighter then medium body and good carbonation.

The drinkability of this brew is high great quality and easy drinking. It does not seem to be the best I have had, looking forward to a taste vom fass.

this is hands down the best hefe i have ever had. i know people rant and rave about their dopplebock, but this is next level for me, truly incredible. you think you know a hefe or something, think youve had every possible deviation and variation and alteration that exists on it, and frankly a lot of them get pretty samey, but this is the king of the heap. its appropriately cloudy, goldenrod colored, with several inches of muted grayish white foam on top. great retention. it smells rustic and old, very very traditional, with a yeasty banana cream complexion, and raw wheat as its base. its a simple equation, but its done expertly well here, and one sip confirms that this yeast is something special. silky rich banana notes and earthy pale malted wheat work wonders together, lasting forever, and hinting at candied lemon rind, black pepper, and something a little more herbal. its got that pleasant old dusty german thing going on, but it also feels really fresh to me. carbonation is intense, and there is an awesome creaminess and weight to the feel. im not sure how you can make a hefe any better than this one, and the fact that its not rare, and is super super cheap makes it that much better. german brewers are going to start getting a lot more of my attention. cant say enough about this one. (1,307 characters)

Very pale and cloudy yellow with a soft white head that retained pretty well. I get some light bubble gum and banana in the nose, as well as bread and some light lemon. Just a touch of tartness and clove in the beginning of the taste. Bready tastes throughout with some lemon, not very much banana, except there is some in the finish. Lower in carbonation than most, very light body. Makes for a light, refreshing beer that I'd enjoy in the summer, but considering it's rarity and there being plenty of superior replacements, I'll drink those instead. (551 characters)

Thanks to blutt59 for sharing this bottle.

The beer pours a hazy yellow color with a white head. The aroma is strong bananas and cloves. The flavor is bananas, yeast and cloves. Medium, creamy mouthfeel and medium carbonation. This beer is exactly what I am looking for in a hefeweizen. Awesome. (296 characters)

Pours a very cloudy light amber color with substantial head. Nice fruity, yeasty aroma for a hefeweizen. The taste is excellent, esters, malty and a nice hop finish. I prefer the dunkelweizen version but this is very good, one of the best although there are six Bavarian hefeweizen which I thought were better. Still beats out any U.S. craft hefe but a big margin. (365 characters)

Very nice, heaps of banana, light citrus orange notes and extremely refreshing, perfect beer for summer, hopefully we see it down under some day. (146 characters)

A- This brew pours a pale golden color with a slight hazy 1st pour and a much denser 2nd pour. There is a sea of boiling microbubbles that support a thick creamy off-white head that laces with each sip.
S- The rich yeasty aroma with a full banana is followed by a hop note and then a clove note comes through and grows as the beer opens up.
T- A mellow white bread dough and yeasty flavor has a soft clove spice quality and a soft dry pils malt note in the background. The finish is a slight tartness with a slight carbonic acid note in that cleans up the finish. A soft green hop note grows into a nice hop snap as it warms.
M- The medium-light mouthfeel has an effervescent carbonation in the finish.
D- This beer has a nice green flavor that is a bit dry and a bit softer than the aroma and less complex, but very drinkable none the less. (904 characters)

500 ml bottle served chilled into an imperial pint glass. Stamped "L2014" which I believe would be December of last year.

Andechser Weissbier Hell is a slightly hazy golden yellow color with thin short-lived head.

Aroma is subtle and sweet with a slight banana character.

Flavor is mild and sweet with the same banana and bubblegum from the nose. Yeast was stirred in with the last few ounces and adds to the enjoyment.

Mouthfeel is light in body and perfectly carbonated with good balance and drinkability.

Overall an excellent German wheat beer and perfect for a warm summer day. (586 characters)
