Notes/Commercial Description:
Since Saint Joseph’s Day on 19 March 1993, Andechs Weissbier Hell has found many new friends. Untreated and bottled in its natural state of yeasty turbidity, this is a top fermented beer for the epicure.

Its light honey colour makes it an immediate eyecatcher. Then there’s the opalescence and fine structure of the yeast turbidity. At the same time, the creamy, fine pored head invites you to get to know this light Weissbier from the Holy Mountain. You’ll need two takes to enjoy the aromas to the full.

First, distinctive fruity aromas like banana and honeydew melon come to the fore, followed by fine cloves. Andechser Weissbier Hell is a very tangy, refreshing treat with the conviction of a full, soft body. It concludes on a finely balanced interplay of light sweet honey and a delicate acidity with undertones of bitter hoppiness that quickly subside into a harmonious aftertaste.

A Weissbier that embodies a slice of the Andechs lifestyle: finely yeasty, tangy, and sparkling, it refreshes and renews the thirst for more

Bottle from Mainbrew. $2.75. That I can have a case of this for less that what folks (me included) spend on 1 bottle is just nuts.

A nice, cloudy, yellow orange with a dense, white head with excellent retention and moderate lacing. The nose is pure hefeweizen. A moderate blend of banana, clove, grain and a little bit of pear cider are present. The clove note is fresh, sharp and spicy, and banana plays a secondary role here. A touch of grainy, doughy, honey-like sweetness is present. Most excellent.

The palate opens juicy, refreshing, with a blend of banana, a little bit of peach and pear before the clove spiciness comes forward. Fragrant and flavorful without the bitterness that sometimes appears, there's a really nice balance between a grainy, wheaty tartness, the fruit and the spice notes. Medium in body from the wheat, this beer is rather highly carbonated, lending an additional acidity to the palate. Drying on the finish with a delicate blend of clove and banana, this is pretty special stuff.

500 ml was poured into large tulip glass.

Appearance: A two finger head was poured that reduced to a thin layer. It is a hazy golden yellow with no clarity or vision of bubbles coming up through the glass.

Smell: Banana, clove, spices, bready and sweet wheat.

Taste: Same as above. Delicious and tasty.

Moutjfeel: Refreshing, light to medium bodied, chewy, and medium carbonations.

Overall: Awesome here. The bests ones are always under $4. Will be revisiting this one again.

Light but pronounced clove-spice aroma.

Mouth feel moderate.

Taste: spice, clove and light fruit.

Finish: refreshing and brisk.

Excellent beer. My second beer from the brewery.

A - Hazy golden straw and orange lemon color with a large, pillowy, thick, creamy soapy white color head. Good retention settling into a nice creamy layer of lace.

S - A lot of malted wheat aroma. Some banana and clove, but not as much as other Hefeweizens. Fair amount of lemon and orange citrus. A lot of yeast aroma and some basic herbal/spice aroma.

T - Similar to the nose with a nice wheat and bready malt taste. Strong fruit flavor with golden peach and apricot fruit and some lemon and orange citrus. Slight tartness comes out later along wit a bit of mineral taste. Decent amount of yeast. Banana, clove, and bubblegum are all present, but not as strong as a number of Hefeweizens.

M - On the lighter side of medium body with a good amount of carbonation. Pretty smooth.

D - A very enjoyable beer that isn't quite as bold or strong as some other Hefeweizens. Very easy to drink beer, and I could definitely have another.

Notes: Best before 20/10/10. Overall this is a nice Hefeweizen. It isn't the best beer I've had, but it is solid. Not quite as full or have the spice/fruitiness as most others in the style, but it is there. tasty beer that is worth trying.

Lovely cloves aroma, typical hefe. Cloudy golden colour, pours with a large head. Fairly dry flavour, typical wheat / cloves, slightly peppery. A bit more hops would do, still this is a well made hefe, as you would expect from Kloster Andechs. Recommended!

a very formal beer... i suppose would call it proper in that it isn't a dessert. good color with a substantial amount of cloudiness. nice yeasty head. nose of mild citrus, and some coriander. palate is on the savory side... or a mild sweet. not smoked but some citrus zest bitter. very very mild sweet. fantastic balance that body and esters come forth in the wheat malt.

500mL into a weizen glass. Pours a crystal clear, glowing golden color w/ a 1-finger bright white head, great carbonation. Lovely.

Aroma is ripe banana, clove, earth, apple and pear. Floral and delicate.

Taste is clean and bright, mellow and soft; floral Old World hops, more banana and clove, and clean mineral water.

Mouthfeel is just right; light but with some weight and presence. Nice clean assertive finish.

Overall a very nice hefeweizen, about as good as it gets.

500ml bottle bought from Beers Of Europe...

Poured a hazy golden yellow colour... White head poured typically big thick and foamy then faded slowly to nice thick layer ... lots of carbonation rises to the surface... decent amount of thick sticky lacing...

Aroma - Nice clove spiciness, light vanilla notes, noticeable wheat, quite bready, very little malts, light fruitiness (banana and lemon), quite peppery, some hay traces...

Taste – Light biscuity malts, faint bubblegum traces mixed with clove, definite breadiness, quite creamy, good fruitiness (lemon and some pear notes), salty, some floral honey sweetness, grassy and peppery hints...

Feel - Very smooth and creamy with just a little bite underneath... light body... Extremely refreshing and drinkable...

Overall - An excellent German hefe... up there with the best...

Pours with a billowing pure white head that dies down pretty quickly and leaves a thin residual white head; deeply cloudy vibrant yellowy orange color.

Getting loads of banana in the nose and it is quickly followed by sharper citrus aromas that are a touch sour; cloves and bubblegum-like flavors are definitely present as well.

Not quite the banana bomb as much as in the aroma, but still definitely the dominant flavor followed only by a pretty nice citrus burst and then has a more muted quality around the clove side of things, but it's still there. Fluffy MF, yeasty, bubbly carbonation, really quite good over the palate. This brew is fantastic in drinkability terms, refreshing, tasty, has some nice interesting layers, and is everything a good hefe should be. Great stuff.
